... because there is a difference between god and God. The left knows that, and it is why they cant ... no ... wont ... acknowledge it. The use of capitals is indicative of specific meaning. To say man has certain inalienable rights is not the same as Man has certain inalienable rights. The first could be a gender, but the second means a genus. If man has certain inalienable rights, then wo-man may not have those same rights.

Extending this logic, the use of heavy caps could be said to align the Tea Party more firmly with the working class of the late-18th-century than the patrician Founding Fathers the party professes to admire. You can extend any logic to absurdity, but never faster when it stems from false premises. I'd be perfectly happy to have had the author cite even one example of where the "Tea Partiers" suffer from an overuse of capital letters that is not a direct quotation from a historical document. One single example that might serve to rescue this train-wreck of a piece from inanity. There is none, only an elephantine attempt at wit in this:
"To restore America we need less Marx and more Madison," Glenn Beck likes to say. More Capitals, less Das Kapital!
I will be charitable and assume that the author actually does understand the differences between Marx's Capital and that word applied to orthography, but it wouldn't be the way I'd bet if money were involved. Either way, Beck never said it. And so to the main point: absent a concrete example of the "Tea Partiers'" preference for overcapitalized text this screed is merely a tedious and rather clumsy attempt to conjure academic standing for a juvenile linking of the author's political opponents with 18th-century illiterati instead of the Founders. Our snoring isn't at the two-penny erudition, it's at the boredom.

Likewise, I will ofttimes not capitalize proper names that, IMHO, do not deserve any form of respect such as "democrat party", and I will also play with creating new words that I think are more appropriate, such as commiecrat.

I was taught that when you refer to our Constitution use a capital and the same with our Nation. The cardinal points of the compass, North, South, East and West get caps. Earth and other planets rate caps.
I don't know what is taught now.
