This week needs more cigar talk...

Posted on 11/01/2010 1:27:19 PM PDT by El Sordo

This weekend’s sampling: A Rocky Patel Renaissance Toro.

While it isn’t along the lines of my usual taste for Maduros, this was a truly excellent cigar.

An Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper around a Nicaraguan/Honduran blend. I’d call it a medium strength.

While I missed the peppery bite of the Maduro wrapper, the subtlety of the Renaissance was a pleasant change from my usual fare. An earthy taste, but not the taste of dirt. Maybe kind of nutty with a hint of coffee. Very smooth with a pleasing amount of buttery smoke.

I will probably never go out and buy a box, but I will put two in the humidor. I’ll save them for the times when I want to pretend I am extravagantly wealthy.

Though if I were to purchase cigars for someone and I did not know their preferences, this would be the cigar I would buy.

I’ve sampled several excellent brands so far, but I have to say that Rocky Patel has really delivered for me in regards to quality.

Just had to share.

The variety available never ceases to amaze me.

I shall have to go find those now.

Rocky Patel has good quality cigars throughout their lineup. I’ve never been disappointed in any RP I’ve smoked.

Boutique cigar from Ashton by Jose “Pepin” Garcia. Nicaraguan tobaccos and every one I’ve had is beautifully wrapped. Enjoy!

Just about everything out of Nicaragua is good. Fidel may be an ass, but when he sent fresh Cuban seed after Ortega first came to power, it certainly improved the overall stock. Have an Edge Battalion for this evening.

Thanks for the tip, I haven't had the pleasure of trying these, but I will see what's available tomorrow.
