I read on Pajamas or one of the other sites this morning that Wisconsin may be the state with the most Republican pick-ups nationwide

Oh, I hope so!!

Thanks for the good wishes 8^)

Great links, Molly. Thank you.

0's rock star/dude image is failing. He still complains that all the sour notes he hits are Bush's fault. I think, along with his policy making, people are sick of his one note blame game and that playing the fiddle just doesn't work anymore.

I liked all the links except Barone's: I think Barone gets it totally wrong about this recession vs. others. This recession is dragging on just as it did under Carter and for the same reason, that being that the private sector can't plan for any kind of growth because of the regular and sustained (and with NobamaCare, planned, future) hits they keep on taking from the gov't.

That reminds me: Hey Raven! Do you happen to know where to find the numbers on IPO's done these last 2 years vs. the avg. over, say, the last 20? I'll bet IPO's are all but non-existent nowadays, and we all know why...;-))

Oh, and here is a link from WSJ weekend that you may have missed, about 6-term DemoRat Brian Baird from Washington state, who decided to 'retire' after he saw his numbers resulting from being a 'good Pelosi Democrat'. See if you can get through the whole thing without bursting out laughing about his 'concern' for voters, especially how he was 'appalled' at the new NobamaCare IRS filing requirements put on small business -- which he says he knew nothing about. Of course he didn't, he never read the bill!

Good Luck tomorrow IG!!! I haven't posted in ages but do get to look at the thread from time to time.

Saw a youtube presentation that said we should know how the country is going as soon as Indiana reports.

I am so in hopes the dumbing down of America hasn't worked and that we can take our country back!!!

Obamacare is going to devastate Oregon and MUST be turned to ashes ASAP!!!

I used the perferct storm analogy back in ‘07-’08 - A recession, a Dem congress and a Marxist in the WHite House.

The ‘Pubs need to look out for getting sucker punched by 0 in the future...he can do nasty things and blame them.

Hi - we are having a windy, rainy day so I can be at my computer for a little while today :-)

I am going to be very pleasantly surprised if Dudley can pull it off out here in the REPUBLIK of Oregon. Lots of liberals in the I-5 corridor that elect people. The whole rest of the state is conservative but we don't have the population.

7 counties are blue - all the rest of the state is RED but those blue counties make choices for us.

Kitzhaber is such a loser - ran the state into the ground when he was govenor before, however, he is a DIM so the liberals are shoving him down our throats once again.

How are you? My life is really quite lovely these days - I am busier than a one arm paper hanger but not complaining. Still volunteering but not quite so many hours a week now that I "have a life". Yesterday was the 7th anniversary of Larry's death - I still miss him - still "hear" his advice in my ear.

I just read some of Miriam's past emails - we often talke about her Jack and my Larry. They are together now - Heaven is just a little bit happier now.

In re IPOs: Well, I have been reminding everyone here to read Peter Ferrara's articles in AmSpec. He's the one who keeps comparing average length of time for recoverys to get started after recessions post-WWII. He says that the average length of time it takes the average recovery to get rolling is something like 8-10 months, and the longest it's ever taken is 16 months. But Nobama's is now in the 34th month, so something is terribly wrong and it is still going wrong when you consider the fact that a) the GDP growth rate is slipping (from 3.4 to 1.6) and b) we are still shedding jobs (-94,000 last month).

So I figure: the surefire way to see if a recovery is forming is new IPOs filed -- Initial Public Offerings of new companies 'going public' selling stock to raise capital. If IPO's are increasing, then that means companies are being formed and jobs must surely follow. If IPO's are flat, then there ain't gonna be no new jobs any time soon.

I suspect that the IPO numbers are the worst they have ever been, at least since the Depression. Make sense? At least that's my theory...;-))

Time just goes, doesn't it??

So glad you are happy & busy, bev..And still involved with your large family, I'm thinking.

All is good here..just older, crankier, and a little stiffer!

Rasmussen's Generic has the Rs up 12% over the Dems...oh my, oh my...that means the mo is with the Rs, and also the pollster has to bring his predictions to jive with reality tomorrow.

I was down at headquarters this a.m., and the talk was about 0's appearance yesterday...so many empty seats, and that the planners would let this be so apparent...just stunningly BAD.

I understand perfectly (once upon a time I was a business librarian..), Early in the recession they were way down, just haven't heard a figure lately, but haven't gone looking for the stat until now.

FROM NRO:

Sen. Russ Feingold’s hometown newspaper, The Janesville Gazette has endorsed the Democratic incumbent’s opponent Ron Johnson (R) for Senate:

Russ Feingold champions himself as a maverick who votes his conscience.

When his party most needs him, however, he’s there. In recent months, he voted for two major spending packages—the stimulus bill and health care reform.

When General Motors was rolling out of Janesville, Feingold lacked visibility. He issued statements from Washington or sent staffers on assignments. If having a Janesville native in the U.S. Senate is to our advantage, it wasn’t apparent when his hometown needed him most.
