The huntsman for the Reich was Hermann Goering. Himmler and the SS hated hunting and killing animals. Indeed, on October 4, 1943, Himmler declared in a speech before the SS that the Germans “were the only nation of the world with a decent attitude toward animals.”

Himmler also called Goering “that damn bloodhound”. A bunch of the game laws Goering enacted by decree are still on the books.
