Only 72? Dang.
They really don’t make’em like 5-0 any more.
RIP Danno

he was married to F-Troop Wrangler Jane. He was definitely lucky - she was hot in her day!

I think I am mistaken here. But I now there was a jungle movie that he played in. Johnny shefield was in the original.

My very first memory of anything on TV is the intro to Hawaii Five-O. Still provides lots of sometimes very goofy fun.

Only 72? That seems far too young these days.

He also played the part of the Preacher at the hangins in Clint Eastwood’s movie Hang Em High. He was great!

He was in the Battle of the Bulge as the young inexperienced lieutenant who was captured by the Germans. He started as a green soldier who easily surrendered to the German attackers only to narrowly escape the Malmendy Massacre. When a group of US soldiers lost in the rear German lines found him hiding in the barn. They ask him what they should do, because he was the officer. One soldier suggested maybe surrender to the Germans. By now, the lieutenant is much hardened and motivated to fight, replied, “surrender, never surrender.” In the last scene the soldiers and the lieutenant would meet up with a surviving tank (commanded by Telly Savalas) at a gasoline depot to stop a German tank column headed by Robert Shaw.

He had a great one-liner (among others) in the closing scene of
"The Bedford Incident". They're tracking a Russian sub and Richard Widmark says, "Well, if they fire one, I'll fire one." MacArthur, who is manning the anti-sub rocket launch board says "Fire One!" and presses the button. oops.

My favorite James MacArthur movie, The Bedford Incident. One of my ‘must watch again and again’ movies.
Happens to be my favorite Richard Widmark movie also.

It was Wally Cox manning the missiles in the Bedford Incident, a great scene though.
