I’ve never watched it. But, then, I walked out of Gangs of New York. After a certain point, I just didn’t care what happened to any of the characters in the movie badly enough to stick around and find out.
Later, at the coffee shop, someone told me that about 20 people walked out right after me.
“On the boarwalk, out with the pigs... on the boarwalk... boarwalk...”
At least those boars are walking and not flying.
Republican city bosses (Buscemi)are bad but the Democrat city boss isn’t portrayed as being any better.
Al Capone is a childish psychopath.
Brothels are hellish for the women that have to work in them.
Good cinematography and costumes.
Bet it’s a real “boar”!
It’s obviously high budget, costuming, period props, locations, cinematography first rate. Subject matter isn’t pretty and may be objectionable to some, interesting to others. I enjoyed it but can see it degenerating fairly easily. Buscemi has always been Barney Fife’s evil twin as far as I’m concerned, it’s a challenge to suspend disbelief.
Not knowing the history of Atlantic City I read the book Boardwalk Empire which the series is based.
Prohibition made Nucki Thompson he reigned for 40 years.
I’m still watching it....Becoming a Sunday night habit, which means I probably have nothing better to do, but
miss the Sopronos and Six Feet Under.
I’m enjoying it. Detroit 187 on ABC is pretty good too.
