(AP) -- An elderly Oklahoma man landed himself in jail after using bolt cutters to break his prized pooch from the pound.

Instead of paying a $100 fine for not having his poodle on a leash, 73-year-old Edwin Fry of Hydro decided to bust Buddy Tough out. Authorities say Fry drove his lawnmower to the city pound Oct. 13 and broke into the cage with bolt cutters. The pair were intercepted by police.

Knowing from experience, this will hasten the old man’s death.
Anyone that has a beloved dog knows of what I speak.

May the same end come to the people who did this.
Curse them!

Ok.
A) shouldn’t have burglarized the pound.
B) Shouldn’t have eunthanize the dog with 90 days or so.
Something else is going on and it stinks.

That IS ridiculous. On what grounds did they kill the dog?

It’s not as if the man was going to “PRISON” for a year or more. Even then, they could just put the dog in the pound and let him be adopted out. To think he was killed while the man was just put in jail (not prison) is beyond reasonable. I don’t see any good reason to kill the dog, unless after so long no one adopted him (standard OP for a shelter).

Yeah, I consider personal responsibility to involve dealing with the situation to my satisfaction. That means, not screwing people over.

Of course, perhaps personal responsibility in your case means calling the police to resolve a dispute.

So you have this old guy, who cannot restrain his dog. The dog becomes a ward of the state, and everyone else pays for his care. (And the probability of the dog being adopted-out is probably around 10-15%). So the dog gets euthanized anyway, but only after being mistreated even further.

The dog was a public nuisance, if the news reports are correct. Dance around it, if you wish.

I'm at a loss for words. If someone were to kill one of my dogs for no more reason than that, my responsibility to behave civilly would end.

Now wait a minute. If you cannot restrain your dogs, I will kill them without compunction.

So, you and nobody else has enough heart to buy this poor old man a leash for his dog.

Right?

And because you and this poor old man’s neighbors have no heart, no one will have any heart for you, or his neighbors.

Somehow, I think you would have had a future with the SS.

So, you’re a fiscal conservative, BUT not a social conservative.

I will remember that when you face the Ozombie death panels.

I'd hold off on that, TQ, because I'm not convinced you know the meaning of social conservatism.

In any case, I don't need your "social" approval to rescue animals. And if you want to direct your efforts toward "no kill" shelters, have fun with the libs you meet.
