The few good things on PBS have been supplanted by cable. There are now much better science shows than Nova on the Discovery Channel. There are much better kiddy shows than Sesame Street on Nickelodeon. You can watch all the British TV you want on Hulu or Netflicks. Same for avante-garde movies and documentaries.
There really is no need for PBS any more.
This isn’t merely about Schiller...it is about the establishment of a Ministry of Propaganda in the US. Schiller was as cocky as she was about canning Williams because she has the support of Soros and, I’m sure, the White House itself. There are some radicals on the FCC who think that Chavez’ way is the way to go and we can expect a big push in that direction.
Fox will be in the crosshairs for the next two years, undoubtedly. It concerns me a great deal that Murdoch is talking about turning News Corp over to his kids whom I hear are pretty useless.
Where Schiller messed up was to create a scandal and cause the whole scheme to come out into the open.
She exposed herself as badly as Pee Wee Herman. Her fate should be far worse.

My son loved the Teletubbies and Arthur and Barnie and a bunch of other shows. That was a few years ago. There is an HD version of PBS. They occasionally have some interesting history shows. They recently had a series on WWII.
And if Ms. Schiller gets her wish, I’m sure all the news will be fair and balanced. /s
