Should Legal Noncitizens Have the Right to Vote?

Yes -- If they pay taxes and can serve in the military, it's only fair that they also be allowed to vote on local issues.

Yes, but... -- Only in state and local elections. The right to vote in a national election should be reserved for citizens of the United States of America.

No -- Voting is a citizen's right. If they want it, then let them first become citizens.

Undecided

Legal non-citizen?

What is that exactly? Does this mean anyone here on a travel or work/school visa?

I say not only no, but HELL NO! Become a citizen (legally) and EARN the rights of one!!

The fact that this comment or the like comes up without being a punchline means a punch should be the response.

Total $hit.

Heck no. They are here by their own choice — no one forced them to come here. If they don’t like not having a voice, they can become citizens or leave.

It’s hard to move a percentage point when there are 126,300+ responses.

A legal non-citizen is someone with a visa of some sort. My hubby had a “permanent” visa (that had to be “renewed” every three years) until he became a U.S. citizen (I’m so proud of him). He’s a staunch Conservative, and we do not cancel out each other’s vote.

The military can’t vote but green card holders yes? I live in opposite world.

I wonder if they expected it to be so lopsided.

Will do. New puppy, work and lousy internet service have been eating into my FR time.

I am so looking forward to Nov 2.

Oh, new puppy! Cool.

What happened to your Internet service?

We had Verizon, but they sold their phone and DSL division to Frontier Communications. Ever since, our service has suffered a bit, but they're the only game in town.

We already voted. What we need is a "vast right-wing conspiracy" to counter the vast left-wing one.

Oh, new puppy! Cool.

Rescue dog Gunny at 4 months:

We aren't sure what breed(s) he is but he's one of the best behaved puppies we've ever had. It's also the first time we've had only one dog since we met in 1991.

We use Hughes.net now. We had a local guy that ran things on used or refurbished equipment and the service was intermittent at best.

We'll vote this weekend.

Awww, what a cutie pie. You must be glad to have a dog again. I know how hard it it to lose a pet and then to get another one after the hurt is a little less. Gunny looks like he’s just the ticket for you guys.

A dog would be a nice addition around here, but we don’t have a fence yet.

I shouldn’t have complained too much about the DSL, I guess. It really isn’t that bad. It sounds as if Hughes.net is better than the local guy, huh.

We voted by absentee ballot, and the ballots went to an address we know to be the Republican offices in the next town. The voter fraud is just rampant, with reports coming in from all over the place, 99% of them Democreep cheating. We really must vote in record numbers to defeat them.
