The wife bought a Samsung about a year back and absolutely loves it - much, MUCH better than the front loader (some Sears model) it replaced.

IT's a direct drive model... no belts between the motor and the spinning apparatus. It's been bulletproof so far.

I’d say find a 20 year old Maytag, fix anything that’s wrong, and keep on washing. That’s what we have.

The new stuff seems troublesome as all getout.
Both my daughters have the new high tech front loaders and keep the repair guy in Porsche payments.
Computers and water seems like a bad combo

My friend got one of those too...Loves it.

Hey, i could NEVER get a frontloader! i am always throwing in another pair of socks I just found...or a dishtowel...Ha.
the loss of control with a frontloader would drive me NUTS!

I also recommend a Samsung front loader. It spins so fast the clothes are almost dry. Really cuts down on dryer energy.
