A leading British academic has been killed after her tiny electric car was involved in a crash.
Dr Judit Nadal, 47, died after her blue G-Wiz collided with a Skoda Octavia.

She could have bought a Ford Fiesta diesel in the UK which gets 65 mpg, has lower C02 than a Prius plus better fuel mileage than a Prius versus a death trap toy.

“In the same year, ministers expressed their alarm at the safety risk posed by this type of mini-car exempt from standard safety test regulations as it was classed as a quadricycle and considered proposing a ban.”
anyone know where I can get a good condition full steel car made in the 80s? Terrible gas milage but they can plow through a forest of priuses.
Experts at the Transport Research Laboratory were so concerned about the Indian-made G-Wiz that they refused to risk their more sophisticated £130,000 crash test dummies full of electronic instruments in the test for fear of them being wrecked.
LOL!!!
Try the desert southwest. That’s where they mothball air planes because of no salt/humidity.
The image of a 81 Cutless Supreme mowing down Priuses gave me the best laugh of the week.
According to British regulatory officials, the G-Whiz is not a “car” but rather a “quadricyle” due to its light weight (less than 400kg.)
In 2007, a crash test for Top Gear Magazine found a collision at 40mph would leave the occupants with life-threatening injuries
In the same year, ministers expressed their alarm at the safety risk posed by this type of mini-car exempt from standard safety test regulations as it was classed as a quadricycle and considered proposing a ban.
All the risks of a motorcycle
Without the maneuverability
It looked like the tin metal of an outdoor shed.
What BS. The UK diesel Ford Fiesta gets mileage that is better than that Smart Car.
The UK gas Ford Fiesta gets almost as good mileage as the Smart Car which is another joke.

My uncle had a ‘78 Buick Electra 225 that would wipe out dozen of those suckers.
Golf cart? It’s a roller skate!
I see a few Smart Cars around, and I wonder about them. They are built with a strong frame, and they don’t disintegrate, but they are so small I don’t think your prospects are very good in the event of a collision.
My 2003 Jeep Wrangler is like that, all heavy steel including the bumpers and grill bolted to an all steel chassis.
My John Deere would crush miles of those things and never break a sweat.
Smart Car is better than this G Whiz death trap. This woman had a PhD. The Ford Fiesta beats the Smart Car’s fuel mileage in the UK and is very close to beating the Smart Car in the Fiesta US-spec gas version.
Ford Fiesta gets a 5 star rating for crash tests.

I grew up on a ranch and know exactly what you mean.
Strap one on each foot, and you have roller skates.
