Generally I’m not one who cares too much about the personal life or politics of the musicians and actors whose work I enjoy, but Kanye is an exception. Despite not liking rap in general, I liked his stuff for the most part, but he has become too annoying to like it.

He's already made a significant contribution to pop culture.
Obviously he's a political leftist and he has a deeply obnoxious personality.
Quite a few musicians and record producers fit that bill.
However, he and the Neptunes are the two production groups who transitioned mainstream hip hop music production from its previous paradigm of the tired recycling of old soul records/Timbaland-style minimalism.
Via his production work on The Blueprint he basically gave hip hop another decade of life.
You can love him or hate him for that accomplishment, but there it is.
