My brother has been in the banking business for almost thirty years. I love my brother. I despise banks.

Even if they reinstated everything today why would he want to stay?

Rule number 1. The Customer is always right.

Rule number 2. They must be punished for their arrogance.

Meanwhile, Kindrick is still trying to figure out how asking to see a written policy led to First Citizens dumping him. Says Kindrick, “I feel very much like I was retaliated against.”

Translation: "waah."

And many here on FR want to believe that “Banks are our friends.”

There are some customers of my company I would love to drop.

It’s usually the loudest complainers that contribute the least in profits.

Was it made out “and” or “or”? If “or” the bank is wrong.

the bank manager told him she didn’t have time to look for it, and that this policy was to protect his wife.

What we have here is a feminazi who is terrorizing the bank. No one dares cross her.

Being treated like this at a bank is no different than getting a bad waiter. Just leave. Filing a complaint for what?

So move your money to another bank. What’s the problem? They don’t want your business, someone else does.

Kindrick decided he needed a new bank, and when he told Cox, he says the bank rep immediately froze his debit card and said he had 10 days to close his account. “It wasn’t a right to bank with them, it was a privilege,” Kindrick alleges Cox told him.

So, he told the bank that he was going to go find a new bank, and the bank froze his debit card.

How is this any different than when you tell a cell phone carrier you are going to switch and they cancel your account?

I don't have sympathy for the client. He told the bank he was going to switch. They froze his debit card, they didn't keep his money. Go open your new account somewhere else and transfer your money over. A business has the right to refuse to do business with individuals. It is not a "right" to bank at that bank, it was a priveledge and probably a convenience.

Next time, follow the rules for special endorsements. He could very well have been trying to steal his wife's money. It's not the first time it's happened somewhere.

The banks have effectively become another branch of the Feds..in your neighborhood...trying to snoop your pocketbook.

Should be no surprise they achieve the same sort of customer service as the Post Office today.

All we have here is this guy’s side of the story. If the bank is willing to lose a customer, they have that right, and there are probably good reasons that they are not talking about. I am particularly unmoved about the alleged damage this is causing to this guy. He could have a new account opened and his money moved in an hour. Big deal.

The 3rd party endorsement rule has been in place since I worked in banking back in the 80's.

If a check is made out to Mr AND Mrs then it needs to go into a joint account. If is is Mr OR Mrs it can go into an account with either name.

This is to prevent one party from taking money that rightfully belongs to both people.

I hated working in banking as I got tired of being verbally abused by customers for following policy. Icky!

Kendrick seems to protest too much. The bank was only being careful, which I expect them to do with my money. One call to his wife solved a minor problem, yet he continues to complain.

Relax buddy, you're not being robbed or raped.

But No! He has been disrespected, & that is worse than death. (sarc)

I believe a business has the right to refuse service to anyone who is disruptive or annoying.

I do think freezing the debit card was premature & wrong. It should only have been done when Kendrick formally closed his account. But Kendrick was stupid to threaten the bank with closing the account. Don't threaten anything, just do it.

But then, Kendrick persists, when he could have immediately opened another account with another bank. Yes, he would be w/o a debit card for a time, but life is full of little inconveniences. Man up, Kendrick, & quit whining. Cash in you pocket works just as well as a debit card.

Advice to Kendrick:

1. Don't argue with the bank or any retailer. Take your money somewhere else, immediately.

2. If you trust your wife, make it a joint account. If you are suddenly incapacitated or die, your wife will have access to the funds. W/o a joint account, the funds are potentially unavailable for months. And if I was Kendrick's wife, no way would I let him deposit my money in an account to which I have no access.

3. If you don't trust your wife, divorce her.

I’ve said it on FR before but I’ll say it again, using a credit union is an entirely different experience than using a bank. A bank basically tries to screw you out of a dollar here and five dollars there. A credit union simply allows you to do the transactions one expects to do without fees etc.

In the past 40 years I have fired 2 banks due to hard nose managers (new to the bank) drew out over 40,000 the last time, went to another bank the same day and have been with them for over 10 years....the first time was when I was handling my fathers money and the manager didn't like the way his account had been set up a couple of years prior....it had been set up according to his wishes...never despised either bank, just left them in the dust...

The account with my father had a big noise made in the bank between me and the manager, when I told her OK all my money is coming out of this bank now, she tried to backtrack and I told her she was not someone I wanted to do business with.....the teller whispered to me "I don't blame you". guess the new manager (female) was a bitch to those that worked in the bank also...

The last bank I fired was Bank of America....the bank I have now chuckled when I told them why I was opening an account with them.....the B of A in my home town had been fired by a couple of other customers at my new bank.
