The largest brush and tire fire in a decade has drawn crews from six Montgomery County fire departments and the Texas Forest Service to about 20 acres of land in the New Caney area.
The Courier of Montgomery County reports that the New Caney Fire Department arrived at the scene about 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 48000 block of FM 1485. Firefighters contained the blaze late Saturday night, but expected it to continue burning Sunday.
The area was filled with ravines and sand with holes of eight to 10 feet deep, New Caney Assistant Fire Chief Josh Smith told The Courier. There are thousands of tires. The owners were saying that they were going to start a go-cart track.
Firefighters from Needham, Huffman, Porter, River Plantation, Splendora and New Caney got water from the San Jacinto River because no fire hydrants were in the area, The Courier reported.

Yes ma’am.
Hubby grilled us a couple of ribeye steaks for dinner this evening, and they were
juicy and perfect. If you’re ever in these parts gunner, come on over for dinner,
and I promise you that Hubby will not overcook your steak.
At least until he knows you as well as Eaker does.
Q: Was the cow angry when she died?
A: It's done.
P.S. It’s great that you, the pets, and the Keep are all right. :-)

Shouldn’t this be in Breaking News and Front Page News?
Thanks.
Pshaw, we're a couple miles off that spot.
Besides, we have the awesome tank-proof ditch and clean livin' to protect us.
True story.
It was a pretty hot topic at the fish fry last night!
Bunch of Obama supporters around here, I'll tell you what! ;-)
I saw that guy on Cops about a dozen times!
He's grinnin' because it wasn't HIS meth lab that blew up!
Police are looking for anyone who can identify the feller in post# 33.
Any ideas?
I tire of these stories.
But, you should have started a blog. You could have called it “TalkRadial.”
Just don’t start multiple treads about it.
I don’t like what you im-ply... You’re showing your bias.
Come on, guys. We have a good, rich tread going here, so don’t run off the wheel.
Back to the topic, I wonder if the conflagration consisted of fire stones?
How is this breaking news? /s
Your fish fry would be an interesting story.
MMmmm....let’s see:
Catfish and Large Mouth Bass fried in corn meal, onions and cilantro. God knows Texas Large Mouth Bass are the biggest and tastiest.
Of course there would be beer - domestic.
Plenty of liars talking about their biggest fish... that got away of course.
Cigarettes and cigars.
Girls who like men that take care of stuff and don’t apologize.
Talk of the Deer season or hunting boar in Louisiana.
Talking smack about Democrats in general and making fun of Barry, Nancy and Reid.
For the closing act have a few choice words for Bwarney Fwank and his ilk.
All of this would have been preceeded by prayer of remembrance for Sam Houston, Davey Crocket and everyone who died at the Alamo, followed by a F** and a middle finger to Mexico and a demand Mexico send another Santa Ana.
All would acknowledge the great Lone State of Texas and they don’t need anyone, except....
Well they would acknowledge thanks to the Sooner state of Oklahoma.
Texas owes a great deal of gratitude to Oklahoma because if Oklahoma didn’t suck, Texas would fall into the Gulf of Mexico.
Etc, etc, etc.
Now that would be a story.
