Tomorrow, seven years ago in Wrigley Field in Chicago,... a fall-guy was born. In the 8th inning of the National League Championship Series, with the Cubs leading 3-0 over the Florida Marlins, and leading the seven game series 3-2, with 1 out, a Marlin foul-ball down the left field line was touched by one of several fans who attempted to catch it after the ball had entered the stands thereby 'theoretically' preventing the Cub outfielder from making the second out.
Following this incident the Cubs allowed the following to happen: a walk; a single; an error; a double; an intentional walk; a sacrifice fly; a missed cut-off throw; another intentional walk; a double; and a single, resulting in 8 runs, as the Marlins went on to win the game, and eventually the series. The Cub fan who had attempted to catch the ball, Steve Bartman, was vilified and threatened with death by the fans as the sole reason the Cubs were ultimately eliminated.
The ridiculousness of blaming Bartman conveniently overlooked the fact that Cub players had struck-out 1158 during the regular season, and had made 106 errors in 162 games not including several beauties during the series. The Cubs team salary for 2003 was $ 73,000,000 which should have been sufficient to motivate them to play better against the Marlins, but apparently was not enough. Cub pitchers alone accounted for almost $ 30,000,000 in salary.
The question in 2010 is who will be the Democrats 'Bartman', the fall-guy who gets the blame for their impending defeat at the polls this November? They have wasted trillions of our tax dollars, struck-out with the American people on every policy issue, and hit more foul-balls than we could ever catch. Obama may call Chicago home but he also claims to be a Sox fan and he clearly will not be a fall-guy for anyone. Your thoughts.
They will blame the people...
Well, since they always do it, I’m assuming they’ll blame Bush somehow
They’re throwing up “bogeymen” at regular intervals, hoping one will stick. Right now, they’re trying to vilify the Chamber of Commerce — if that doesn’t “take”, who knows what will be next?
Bush will get a reprieve........ for the next two years, all you’ll hear out of the spinmasters and their willing accomplices in the media will be the party of NO.
Why should the blame game get any more coherent after the election? Right now, they’re blaming Ed Gillespie, the US Chamber of Commerce and “Foreign Money”. But even that changes hourly.
It’s Bush’s fault. Who else would it be?
It isn't over until it is over and the RATS are too good at election fraud.
The White House is presently hunkering down into an tight cadre of veteran Chicago political insiders and their aides, in anticipation of... what? A fight. They are not about to compromise on anything, ever, and they are plainly telegraphing that intention to anyone who is listening. Even if the GOP wins control of both Houses of Congress, far from the promise of a "new tone" or a new beginning", I expect a war. We'll see.
the blue dogs (the ones that survive) in the house will blame pelosi for forcing them into a vote on cap-and-tax and obamacare. the liberals will blame the administration for not going far enough with their agenda (”if only we had passed single user!”). the administration will blame everyone . . . the electorate, the republicans, rush limbaugh, the chamber of commerce, george bush, fox news, insurance companies, BP, the chilean miners, jason bieber, and britney spears’ bartender.
It doesn’t matter who or what entity the Dems try to blame, what matters is who the people blame. This election will provide the answer to that.
I think the big loser here will be the MSM, they obviously sold us this bill of goods.
Winner: Capitalism.
Publicly, the Clintons will go along with this tactic. Privately, they will be sending out their minions to work behind the scenes, blaming Barack Obama. This will set the stage for Hillary to challenge Obama for the nomination in 2012.
Both the Cubs and the Rats are destined to lose...it’s fate: Gods devine will.
Therefore its a right wing conspiracy spearheaded by Sarah Palin and Bud Selig.
We have already here from John Forbes Thurston Howell IV Kerry, “It’s the stupid electorate!” In reality, that should be, “Thurston, it’s the electorate, stupid!”
Why waste the tried and true excuse? The fall guy will be Steve Bartman!! It’s going to come out that he is super conservative and the one that donated all of that money to the Chamber of Commerce. Sinking the Demorats!!
