Sorry if it has been posted. I know that it's old. I saw it the first time on History Channel THIS 9/11. It's an amazing interactive with REAL TIME video from people in New York.
It is very awesome in its immediacy. Again...sorry if it's a duplicate. I suggest starting by clicking on the video from NYU dorm.
...saw 102 this past 9/11. It is riveting. Caution, it will bring back very sad times.
I had tried to escape the day a little on this past 9/11.
It coincided with the Koran burning/ Mosque controversy and I didn’t like all the politics on the day.
I ended up VERY LATE...flipping to History Channel by accident....and I stayed up and watched ‘till sleep absolutely took me over.
It was like God said, “You will not escape this, Missy.”
9/11 was terrible for me. I was working the front desk at an ER. We were slow and the head of security came down. He stood, for a moment in the waiting area...looking at the Today Show. From behind the desk, I saw his face change. He looked at me...almost in a panic and said, “Julia...is this a movie?” I said, “I had the Today Show on....” and he said, “oooooooohhhhhh.....oooooooh...” it was a gutteral thing and I ran out from behind the desk to look at the TV.
We watched the second plane hit together and I ran to the back to tell the staff that we were under attack.
I remember the docs and nurses and other staff in scrubs standing there watching the TV like a choir singing “O”...but in silence.
Oddly enough...we got very busy and I was busy busy. I remember hearing “Ohh...no...” from the lobby and ran out to see the Pentagon on fire.
My brother was in DC. I let one tear slip down and I remembered I had a job to do and I couldn’t break down.
I’ll never forget a very tall, thin black man later in the waiting area as everyone was watching....watching....watching....and he stood up.
He said, “I’ve been a Democrat all my life. All my life! But I am so glad that George Bush is president right now...because WE are gonna kick some ASS!”
I think that every year on the anniversary...I learn something new. We had so much thrust on us so quickly that it was impossible to take it all in and as the years unroll....
I understand it better. And I am still as mad today as I was on 9/11.
Cant watch any more. Makes me want to get drunk.

If you haven’t seen this before...I have to say...it is simply incredible.
There’s no commentary, just the videos from people.
It IS really depressing, but it’s also more powerful than anything I have ever seen about the day. It is powerful because it speaks for itself.
And it SPEAKS.
Back in Late 2001 or early 2002 there was a story about UAV’s armed with Hellfire’s that were piloted from St. Louis. They were tracking a bunch of high-level bad guys in Afghanistan and followed them to a building. They (we) flattened the building with 4 hellfires and we know we got em because we could hear bad guys (on the ground) cell phones going crazy.
This was a very warming story for me. I wish someone would put it up again just for the good memories.
Thanks

When I watched this on the night of 9/11....they had some of the rescue personnel in the Towers talking...they were requesting lines and it was just before the Tower fell. I can’t find that on the interactive.
And it was just so chilling in a dark, quiet room in the middle of the nation this 9/11 to hear those formerly alive people ...
I have a LOT of family in rescue services. Just the idea of them being up there and wanting hoses ...
We are a great nation made of brave people.
Good for you. A lot of people have obviously forgotten.
Don’t get drunk; get angry.
And to think that the Muslims are planning to build a victory mosque near where the WTC once stood and that Imam Bloomberg approves of it.
Apparently, the 102 minutes did not change America at all — many Americans still think that Islam is a ROP because the one who started this misinformation has not retracted these words.
No, nothing has changed in America — our view of Islam is still the same as what it was before 9/11.
Here’s the thing...I think a lot of people just hurt.
The first reaction to this wasn’t anger. The first reaction was horror and pain.
When you think about it...we did WELL as a nation.
We could have had citizens on a rampage against Muslim Americans.
We didn’t do that. We licked our wounds. I guess that maybe for Christians, the first reaction isn’t one of hate or revenge. We just ached for our countrymen and hid our anger away.
We have not yet had revenge.

I tivo’ed the program this year to show my kids who were too young to know about 9/11 when it happened. Very powerful. I am glad the History Channel is still repeating it.
Thank you for posting this, I had missed it.
I watched the program and then went to the site and found the interactive.
My niece was too young to know really what happened.
She admitted it to me that she was just too young and didn’t really grasp it...of course, it was HER dad that was in Washington that day. Who worked where they MAKE the money....
But she was young. I showed this to her last month and she was just blown away.
We watched together, some of these videos and she said, “I feel bad..it didn’t hit me this much. Our group prayed, but we didn’t watch a lot on TV...I just didn’t know....”
IMO...*I* watched a lot....but didn’t know. You know? I think we all have national PTSD about this...we block some things out.
And with THIS interactive...you cannot block it out...maybe we’re ready to face it now.
I was there just today to check on the “progress” and pay my respects (again).
Sigh
