AUSTIN, Texas -- U.S. and Mexican authorities say a Mexican state police commander investigating the reported shooting of an American tourist on a border lake plagued by pirates has been killed.
Ruben Rios, spokesman for the Tamaulipas state prosecutor's office, says Commander Rolando Flores, the head of state investigators in the border city of Ciudad Miguel Aleman, was killed.

Are you some kind of a moron? These assholes, their BS stories and their ties are legendary. They hide behind attorneys, because they have millions of dollars, they have gold plated weapons.....the time for getting a clue was about 4 years ago.
I hear you...Mrs. Hartley said they were racing away together when they saw the boats/guns...then he slowed down and got behind her...she thought he did that to protect her.
When she saw him hit, she turned around to get him and couldn’t lift him, and then made the decision to leave.
Heartbreaking.
In an interview she said she tried to lift him onto her jet ski but that he was too heavy.
I share your anger.
Is dumbass your middle name? Falcon lake, and the border, and our cities are being overrun, by mexican drug gangs. Get a damn clue.....
I suppose if I were young again (wouldn’t that be lovely!), and I has children at home, I might have run as she did.
At this stage of my life, or if I didn’t have children, I really would have stayed. My husband is more important than my life.
But I would never question another’s decision in the face of such terror, though. We never really know how we will react when faced with such a horrible situation.
Is azzhole yours??
People are trying sort this out, why the personal attacks?
Take a chill pill FRiend, shi!t stinks right now and you ain't helping.
Well,in my defense...murder investigators always say that when investigating a murder "before you look at the outlaws, you look at the in-laws".
Escuse me?? I happen to LIVE near Falcon Lake. I am observing that unwise actions of two people....for whatever reasons...has resulted in unneeded death.
Get over yourself moron.
I guess now that the investigator's head has been delivered the press will back off the wife. The poor woman really was in an awful position. I can't even imagine the horror she went through.
Really? Last I checked Falcon Lake used to be one of the biggest tournament fishing lakes in Texas. Now half the lake is off limits? Why?
Why don’t you try researching the story, the setting, the lake, the other 4 or 5 pirate incidents at this lake THIS YEAR, the warnings etc. and educate yourself before you come onto a thread?
“Why dont you try researching the story, the setting, the lake, the other 4 or 5 pirate incidents at this lake THIS YEAR, the warnings etc. and educate yourself before you come onto a thread?”
Are you on crack?
“For decades Texas’ Falcon Lake has been a place where families and professionals fish for catfish and bass and have a great time on the water. But lately the lake has had some unexpected and unwanted guest. Mexican
pirates have been targeting boaters that get close to the Mexican part of the lake. So far only five incidents have been reported, but officials believe that there may be more.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) believe the pirates are part of the feuding drug cartels that have been murdering hundreds of people in Mexico. The pirates were armed and actually shot at and killed a man last Thursday while he and his wife were riding Jet Ski’s. David Michael Hartley from Colorado was shot in the head and his wife Tiffany managed to escape harm by riding back to the American side of the Lake.
State and Federal officials have done little to stop the pirates but continue to issue warnings about the danger. With a reported 160,000 people visiting annually, it would seem that more would be done. DPS told Fox News that the Mexican government was helping with the investigation. The same government that is suppose to be helping put a stop to illegal alien entries into the United States by way of the U.S.-Mexican border.
David England, superintendent of the 572-acre Falcon State Park said that only one DPS officer was assigned to the park with a possible addition of one more officer. Suggestions would be that maybe the National Guard would be activated to patrol the lake and stop the pirates that come out and attack and rob park visitors. Texas politicians have said that maybe the lake should be avoided all together because of the danger. This attitude angers many that live in the area because it may be only a matter of time before the pirates enter the U.S. side of the lake and attack people along the lakes edge.”

National Guard Can’t do ANYTHING until ordered to do something and Boat People they ain’t ... actually this falls under the Coast Guard and Border Patrol as well as local Law Enforcement.
Personally I’d like to see Seal Team 1 take a weekend fishing trip (jus wishful thinking)

I’m waiting for your brilliant response. The one where you say mexican drug gangs haven’t really taken control of the border, and Falcon Lake.
Since you are apparently quite lazy in addition to being mouthy and possibly juiced up, I’ll answer your question about fishing.
Yes, Falcon Lake has been the site of fishing tournaments. Yes, fishermen on Falcon lake have been surrounded and threatened, primarily robbed in about 4 other incidents this year, to the extent there was question as to whether the tournament would be held this year. The tournament was held, but within American waters only, with fishermen being warned to NOT venture into Mexican water or out of the determined boundary of the tournament.
Now, anything else about Falcon Lake, this incident, past incidents etc. you can perhaps research when you sleep it off.
Sheesh.
Just saw this post. Thank you, I think you’ve made my point.
Yea. Duh. Perhaps you are still missing the point. Americans are getting blown away on the mexican side of the lake. Duh. You can't possibly be this dim.
