3 publicly, 2 that won’t say it but won’t defend him.
My sister and her long term boyfriend voted for him. I tell her every time I see her that she “got what she wanted.”
Now she is a hard core tea party supporter. I told her today to vote for the purple one next time. The reason she voted for him to begin with was to be a part of electing the first black president. Maybe a green one would be better. A purple rock would be smarter. How about a bright yellow brick. It would not Lie to us all the time.
Yes, one friend who didn’t come right out and SAY it, but clearly he regrets it now judging from recent conversations. Also several clients of our CPA firm are very regretful, one said he “didn’t know why” he voted for him.

Give him time. hell come around. I know many solid conservatives that dislike Palin-I ain’t one of them-but there are a lot.
Welcome aboard. Nothing to forgive IMHO. Former libs make great conservatives once they make the leap into the light. While I was always a conservative, I have seen many gravitate towards conservatism. It is a true rarity to see someone descend into liberalism.
I know a few, and, though I do not discuss politics with them, I have seen no indication that any of them regret it, sad to say.
My Step-Brother. He said he was sitting the last election out, but then went to the polls. All he kept talking about back then was how Bush and the Republicans screwed everything up. He didn’t like McCain, but more because he saw his as ‘McBush’ and not for the reasons many of us didn’t like him. Many of us held our nose and voted for the turd, he wasn’t voting for McCain no matter what and he’s always been open to electing Democrats. He wouldn’t admit to voting for Obama, but I know he did. Now, he says that Democrats have had their chance and will be voted out. He doesn’t think Obama will win a 2nd term but he also says that Palin won’t be elected, because we’ve already tried a ‘minority’ president. Women aren’t the same as minorities, but arguing with the naive is pointless sometimes.
I hope so. Thanks for the encouragement, sometimes I feel like spanking him.....
I have a buddy who is a Naval officer in the reserves. He is a Democrat because his dad was a union guy. Once the budget cuts started to impact fleet size, he started to grouse. I said it's a damn shame we just spent a few 100 million changing street signs in New York instead of maintaining an existing ship and he agreed. We then started talking about all the other cuts we would make and then-bingo- a fiscal conservative was born.
Now I get e-mails from him sending me examples of gov't waste.
Maybe complain to your boy about how excess regulation is negatively impacting your work. He's a doc, so he is under seige from medicare/medicaid/regulations/Obamacare/ etc...He'll start to complain and vent. Don't press it-just listen and nod your head knowingly. They eventually come around if you don't force it. IMHO of course.
Good luck.
I'm trying to build on the common ground and bring her back around. She (and the rest of my siblings) would never, ever vote for Sarah Palin though. Just wait until my extended family finds out there's not going to be an increase in Social Security checks in 2011. Nah. They'll still blame it all on the greedy GOP.
Actually, what you say is true. There are quite a number of people who started off very liberal & then went the conservative route...... I cannot think of an instance in which the reverse is true. if you know of one, let me know.
A few months ago the new York Times had a long article in the style section on a conservative gathering for a writer. I believe it was at David Frum’s home.........anyway, the point I was getting to as I keep blathering on is that one of the women said that former liberals who are now conservatives are the strongest because they’ve been on both sides & made the choice. I completely got what she said.
Something to ponder tonight........thanks!
Thanks, we don’t talk much about politics now and I count on my other son to set him straight. Funny, in a household of conservatives, one grew to lean to the left.
He has so many good qualities, including being a very caring doctor.
My brother often sarcastically uses that line on me when he calls me..........
O.K., I’ll let it go this time....but don’t let it happen again.;-)
Thanks a bunch, honey. You, your brother, and every other dimwit who voted for that arrogant fraud have dropped us in this mess we are now in. I hope you regret it every day of your miserable life. And I hope your headache hurts like nothing on earth. I am not feeling charitable towards fools tonight.
My Aunt... this is really sad... She’s in her eighties. She has voted Democrat her whole life because “FDR brought electricity to the farmers”. Never wanted to listen to her conservative daughter. Now my cousin, her daughter says, even though she only watches the mainstream news, ophra, etc. she still has put together how dangerous teh one is. She’s actually very worried and sorry for voting for him. Curse him for his betrayal of honest people.
They are lefties everywhere....it seems to be a requirement of being a musician, especially classical ones. Being smart enough to memorize reams of music does not go hand-in-hand with common sense.
“Yes. My brother-in-law.”
My brother-in-law too. Really regrets it.
