12 hospitalized after Washington state party

ROSLYN, Wash. — A dozen young people — most of them women — were taken to hospitals after overdosing on an unknown substance that may have been slipped into their drinks at a house party in central Washington, police said Saturday.

All but one had been released by late Saturday afternoon, and that person was in good condition at a hospital in Ellensburg, according to police and a nursing supervisor.

The investigation started late Friday when officers and Kittitas County sheriff's deputies received a report of a possible overdose victim at a Roslyn grocery store. Acting on information from the victim's friends, police went to the house party and found 11 more young people either passed out or semiconscious.

My family lives near there. The word last night was that someone had “mickeyed” a bottle of booze in hopes of getting a lot of girls to “put out”. This is a very small town, it just goes to show that there is nowhere to hide from the problems our society is plagued with.

I met a young woman in Ellensburg when I was out that way in 2007. I hope she wasn’t involved.

why is a ‘mickey’ needed? in today’s America, all you need is a 20 something female and a dimly lit area.

A shiny car, and cash usually has the same effect...

Like chimps, they love shiny glittery stuff and usually go gaga over it.

A radio report I heard tonight suggested the possibility of date-rape drug ingestion. It’ll be interesting to learn the true cause of the problem.

Officers initially responded to a call at about 11 p.m. Friday in the Safeway parking lot on West First Street in Cle Elum and found an unconscious female in the back seat of a vehicle. The unidentified female was taken to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. After interviewing her friends, officers learned of a large party on the 300 block of East Washington Avenue in Roslyn.

When police began sweeping the house for possible victims, one sheriff’s deputy found and arrested a male who was engaging in sexual activity with a semiconscious female, Ferguson said. That person was released after investigators determined the woman to be his girlfriend, but Ferguson said police still have serious concerns about the incident and are still investigating.

“That person was released after investigators determined the woman to be his girlfriend...”

Dang. And my then-future-wife thought I was a lousy date when I forgot my wallet and she had to pay for our first date! (Well, lunch - after church, but still....)

My brother lives in Ronald, just up the road, 3 miles. He always tells me that the area is a magnet for college kids. My family has been in the Roslyn since the hey-days of the mines.
