I just got my flu shot on Tuesday and for the past couple of days I have been lightheaded and having mild nasuea. I checked and discovered that the swine flu strain was included in this years vaccine, even though I asked the nurse if this was for the seasonal flu only.
This is also the first time I have ever had a reaction to a vaccine.
Me too. Never had the shot. The flu is my ticket to a few days home from work..
I’m 53 and have never had the flu shot. Can’t remember ever having the flu, maybe when I was a kid. I’m around people everyday in the gym and that place is the worse place for germs. Everybody I know who gets the flu shot always gets some form of the flu. Maybe it isn’t the actual flu, they just call it that to get a few days off from work. :)
“I had a fever of 102 for two days”.
We have a similar “bug” going around where you have a fever for a few days and just don’t feel well. If it turns into a cough, it may be the same bug since I live in Maryland. It is going through the schools like crazy. Just a thought
Got my flu shot at 5:00 PM by midnight I had a fever of 102F. Nobody I know has the flu and I do not ride public transportation or around children. There was no other vector. It was the shot.
Excellent info. A small number of people do react to vaccine, but it does NOT mean they got the flu from the shot. It just doesn’t work that way.
And, while H1N1 was not as dangerous as first reported to be (Mexico), a large part of the reason it was not as prevalent as it could have been is BECAUSE of the effort to vaccinate against it.
This stuff drives me nuts because the same people who say the government overreacted are the same people who would scream “the government is incompetent” if they had not reacted and H1N1 had been allowed to sweep the planet.
And lab tests confirmed that it was actually the flu you had and also confirmed that the strain you had was the same as the strain you were vaccinated for?
Vaccine Side Effects (What to Expect)
Different side effects can be associated with the flu shot and LAIV.
The flu shot: The viruses in the flu shot are killed (inactivated), so you cannot get the flu from a flu shot. Some minor side effects that could occur are:
* Soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given
* Fever (low grade)
* Aches
Fortunately it has no effect upon your Southern heritage. ;-)
I think the nurse was a Yankee transplant....
We are on 4,000 units of D-3 daily and no more flu shots for us.
That’s good. I got a new supply the other day and your post prompted to make me look at what I got and I see it is 5000 IU. Is that too much or should I go back to 4000 IU?
It sounds like they didn’t tell people some Swine Flu vaccine was mixed in with this years batch. Proof not to trust them.
My husband & I have taken the seasonal flu shot for the past 30 years....
..this year decided not to because of the added H1N1....
I'm taking a Vitamin D-3 capsule per day .....
My doctor recommended the 5000 iu.
Thanks, Guenevere.
