I've noticed that when I purchase gas, at any filling station, the pump will jump from $00.00 to $00.03. It completely skips $00.01 and $00.02. This happens at every pump, at every gas station I have used in Southern California. I am able to meter gas out slow enough to stop at any hundredth of a gallon, so I don't think I'm pumping too fast.
I know that our online community has experts in every field so here are my questions. Am I being robbed of 3 cents? If not, is there an explanation on why this happens?
I tried Google and Wikipedia, but found no answers. Please excuse me if I don't reply to responses but I won't be back to the PC for about 5 or 6 hours. Thanks in advance to anyone with insight.
Have you considered discretely dumping it on the ground so your bike only gets the good stuff, or better yet, wait around until someone pumps Super and get behind him? That's what I'd do.
But was she hot?
I'm glad someone else noticed it. My European make car has a talking computer, which speak English with a German accent, and it complained to me about this just the other day.
LOL
I may be wrong, but a wild thought just lurched through my beady little mind. If a person really wanted to be a pinchpenny skinflint they could finish pumping gas; hang up the nozzle which will shut off the pump; then take the nozzle back out again and stick it back into the filler opening, squeeze the trigger and DRAIN the gas that was still in the hose into their tank. 3 cents is 3 cents, after all!
6 or 7 on a scale of 10 with deductions for airheadedeness.
If gas is 3.00$ a gallon, then 3 cents is Just over ONE OUNCE of Gas.
A “Can” of Coke is 12 ounces....so as you can see, one ounce is not much, probably about the amount needed to start/stop the pump with that Gov mandated anti-siphon/anti-overflow/anti-gas device built into the pump.
If you are really worried about money, get your A$$ down to the polls and vote TEA PARTY to stop the government spending.....it’s costing us ALL.
Stay away from as girl that runs from an out of control hose. You want one that will grab the sucker and wrestle it until its under control.
Wait till 0 decrees E-15. The Wackos bragging about using the 2.25 (thanks to the taxpayers) are really paying 2.25/0.85=2.64 compared to gasoline, due to lower energy content. Save the planet, maybe, in his own mind. but money, never Happen.
Damn, I apologize. I thought I had serious issues going on in my miserable life ... but compared to this, I'm in high cotton.
Serg, my heart goes out to you.

If they can develop ethanol efficiently using waste rather than feedstock grain, it might have a place. Locally, it’s been a boon to corn farmers and soybeans as well by competition for acres.
Stover or switch grass or other biomass would be much less disruptive to the food economy.
She was definitely hose-shy.
The person who filled with gas before you got the amount of gas that they wanted, flipped the hose rester thing down (stopping the meter) then pumped the last bit of gas that was in the hose. If the person in front of you just stops pumping the gas then hangs up the hose it would not do that to you. That is my very uneducated mom answer. Well that is the answer that I used to give the people who came in and asked me about it when I worked at a gas station anyway.
I’ve bought gas at no less than a dozen different stations across Southern CA recently and have never seen anything like that.
Yes, it takes some practice.
Only on days that end in “Y”.
Oh trust me, I am getting to the polls this November, but my thought process was more along the lines of the filling station making an extra $300 per 1000 customers.
I don’t care who you are, that right there’s funny.
Thanks Tex...I can always count on my FRiends to comfort me in my time of need. LOL!
I have noticed that the threads with the stupidest, most inane questions, get the funniest replies. You guys are the greatest.
Very cool, who’s gonna contradict a mom.
