I could leave a cooked turkey on the counter all night and my Lab wont touch it.
He is a good Pookie.
He wont even enter the kitchen because he has been trained not to.
That is a good story.
You are so correct! I just lost my beloved 13 year old black lab and am having trouble getting over it. He was the silliest dog I ever owned and he stole more food off my plate (including a birthday cake sitting on the counter)than I care to remember. But I look back on all his antics and wish I could have one more day in which he could steal my porkchop! (Then come back and demand to have his tummy scratched.)
RIP, my puppy.
I have often wondered about your screen name; if you are a retired Greyhound bus employee, or a rescuer of former racing dogs. I used to live in a town with a dog track, and know that under-performing dogs get given away to doggie adoption groups.
This is FR, I am sure you can find an abortion thread to post on. One issue Republicans.....eyes rolling
The latter. Wife and I have two retired race hounds. They make truly wonderful pets. Very mellow, low maintenance dogs, and they are absolutely the sweetest.
Thats great! my wife is allergic to all dogs that shed hair, but she has adopted 2 poodles from the puppie recylers. Adopted dogs really love you so much because they are not used to being loved or have any personal attention shown to them.
I love shelter dogs.
We also have a chihuahua and a poodle mix, both rescued off the streets.
And four cats! Our house is crazy. But it’s fun.
RE: “About a month ago a good buddy of mine had 17 giant polish sausages in a cooler in the back of his pickup truck, along with his dog. On the way home the dog opened the cooler and ate all 17 sausages.
We got a good laugh out of it. He said, oh, I really wanted to let him have it but what can you do? I didnt catch him in the act. And you cant blame a dog for eating hot dogs when he finds them.

Hilarious story — years ago a co-worker told tales of her family’s dog — he constantly tried to steal food and managed to jump off with an entire roast sitting out on counter. He got to the backyard with my friend chasing her. Finally he dropped the roast on the grass — woman grabbed roast, took it inside, washed it off and cooked it! No one cared!
That same dog was known to chew up sprinkler heads, even the metal ones! — and he loved M&Ms and though chocolate is BAD for dogs they would give him a few — he was fine.
Another dog, a boxer, belonged to a friend of mine. “Maisie” got hold of an entire box of chocolates at Christmas and wolfed them down. She was really lethargic as a result, but was deemed fine by the vet. Good times!
ha ha very cute!
poodle tax!
Reminds me of one of my dogs, who ate a pumpkin pie off of the kitchen counter. I’m not nearly as lenient as my buddy. Our dog got yelled at. :) And of course she gets a beating every day.... which she loves. :)
