I hear some riffs on my MP3 player and I am back in 1967. Amazing memory aids, Oh SuziQ, baby I love you. Oh SuziQ (now THAT song is in my head, dang it)
The summers of 66 and 67 were two of the absolute GREATEST for music! I was 13 and 14 those years, and when I hear any of those songs, I'm transported back in time to our family's Fish Camp on the MS Gulf Coast. My sister and our friends were totally FREE those three months of each year. It was a much safer time, and we'd leave the house in the morning and just wander all day. It was good times!
It's funny, how a memory of a song can affect you. When I hear "Ode to Billy Joe", by Bobbie Gentry, in my mind, I'm walking along the road beside a creosote plant and can SMELL the stuff! Maybe we had a portable radio with us, listening to WTIX out of New Orleans while out on one of our jaunts, and that song played at that location.
I bought the compilation CD "Summer of Love" year before last, and it's outstanding!
