Recently, I was considering becoming a member of the Libertarian Party. I admit I knew little about the party, except that they are for smaller government. I visited their website, and this is what I found...
The party's views of gay unions and abortion are as follows;
"Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the government's treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration or military service laws. Government does not have the authority to define, license or restrict personal relationships. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices and personal relationships."
"Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration."
I know that there are many libertarians here on FR, and I would appreciate it if they weighed in. How can you affiliate yourselves with a party that at least appears to disagree with many basic conservative principles?
It isn't reason that would lead someone to accept that list.
Those are the things that reasonable people fight tooth and nail.
And it wasn't reason that led to the conclusion that FR is now a "FR is now a pro-sodomy, pro-anarchy, pro-child sexuality promoting, pro-drugs, pro-homosexual agenda website."
It was pure, emotional knee-jerk reaction.
He called it right, you have made it clear that you will not condemn that list, libertarians support the most radical leftist ideas and goals, that list is among them.
Liar. One doesn't need to be on a picket line in front of an abortion clinic, or have a signed statement from the Pope, to be pro-life.
Care to look at that 32 years of political involvement, much or most of it in a proabortion party, and show us the evidence that she could never produce?
I've made it clear I won't answer loaded questions. You can characterize it however you choose. That choice, like all others will have consequences. If you choose to misrepresent and mischaracterize it, that is your legacy.
It’s a steaming pile of crap that FR now tolerates such promotion? Or it’s a steaming pile of crap to promote such things? Who the heck knows. Or such things are a steaming pile?
(Too busy to really do justice to this thread.)
The pro-libertarian side really, really needs to study basic debate methods and drop the dishonest “methods”.
Here’s a start:

Got stuff to do. Catch you later.

I've studied well enough to recognize them. I don't care to emulate them.
Nope, not an emotional, knee-jerk reaction.
It is an accurate assessment of libertarian positions, plus some really strange comments I’ve seen lately on the Homosexual Agenda threads.
The Libertarian agenda, if implemented, would quickly devolve to a Lord of the Flies scenario. And none of you can debate in a rational, sane or honest manner. It is obvious to everyone except yourselves, and maybe you all even see that but don’t care.
And whichever it is, I don’t care. Fortunately you are such a teensy tiny group that you have had and will have little to no effect on anything.
None of you as far as I can tell read my long comment or addressed it (except that one guy whose comment I have yet to read). You present lie after lie as though the lies were fact, you present invective as though it were honest debate, and in fact, trying to discuss with you is like trying to reason with monkeys flinging crap. It’s as though you read the link I just posted and then study all the bogus and dishonest debate tactics and use them exclusively. Anyone who tries to engage with you, like ansell2 or DJMacWoW deserves a bronze star or something equivalent.
If you're talking about the Libertarain Party, their platform and agenda no more define libertarianism than the platform and agenda of the Republican party define what a republic is.
Libel is a crime you know.
The situation is that the FedGov is now more or less a totalitarian entity forcing lefitst crap down everyone’s throat. They are the enforcing arm of leftists.
The solution is more states’ rights, without being crippled by junk SCOTUS decisions or unconstitutional federal legislation or agencies, rules, laws, regulations and so forth.
You bring up pornography. The FedGov has forced pornography on eveyrone and no one can prevent or stop it from being sold in their state, county or town.
So what is the solution? Regular Libertarians think that no level of government should set any curbs any social or moral evil. The Constitutional solution is to wipe away much of the legislation including Federal agencies etc that have accumulated for about 3 generaions and get back to Constiutionally mandated powers.
But this is not the Libertarian philosophy at all.
ROTFLOL!
Chuckling - you are totally out of your mind, that settles it.
This thread should be used in debate classes in schools to illustrate honest and dishonest debate tactics. Probably covers everything!
I gotta go too -
LOL, No, a politician has to convince the voters that they are, and have been pro life, especially the ones running as the candidate of a pro abortion party.
Now there's a fair, reasonable debate method. You simply declare you opponent to be insane, and declare the issue settled in your favor.
As noted, there is no convincing you.
No one has even tried yet, she has 32 years in politics, as an activist, and a candidate for a pro abortion party, and now 30 years later, a Governor candidate for that same pro abortion party, yet she can’t come up with any evidence that she has been pro life all those years, other than out of the blue, just suddenly claiming it?
Mitt Romney does a heck of a lot better than that.
As proven, not all libertarians are pro-choice. You can continue this lie, but that is all it is... a lie.
