Knocked flat on his back, Landry Jones took a swipe at the ball he'd just fumbled and did his best to keep it -- and the Red River Rivalry -- from getting away.
Linebacker Jared Norton came rushing in with a chance to put No. 21 Texas in prime position for a tying touchdown, only to see the ball roll out of bounds. In control from the beginning, No. 8 Oklahoma was just happy to survive with a 28-20 win over its main rival Saturday.

Huskers 42 Texas University 0. mac brown cannot beg for an extra second this game. Its gonna be a bloodshed not seen since Hannibal’s victory over the Romans at Cannae.
Yeah, the Huskers will finally, after all these years, beat the Longhorns.
And after this year, the Longhorns will lose Nebraska the Red Headed stepchild of the Big 12.
The difference between Lincoln and Austin is that here in Austin we do not accept a two or three loss season. In Lincoln they accept losing.
UT will accept it this year.
Oh, the shame!!
Let's just say I'm not a Brown fan. I can't stand seeing him clapping like a seal when the team screws up on the field.
It’s going to be a long year for us Longhorn fans, isn’t it?
Oh well, every college team has to reload eventually.
(Except semi-pro teams like Nebraska and Oklahoma used to be, under Osborne and Switzer.)
What an interesting two weeks for Tejas...
As the #7 team, they lose to my team, UCLA...a total yet welcome shock to me.
They lose 14 places in the poll, and then lose again...
Great day for me yesterday. UCLA wins, USC loses.
“Its going to be a long year for us Longhorn fans, isnt it?”
Maybe, maybe not. :-)
Yep ... looks like Texas is in for a season like ou had last year. No worries.
It used to be unthinkable, but the ultimate humiliation of losing to Baylor at home is a real possibility.

I could be wrong, but I think that actually happened back in the Fred Akers era.

Haha, my daughter goes to UT but grew up in the Waco area. When I mentioned this possibility to her she was absolutely horrified. To the Longhorns this is a fate worse than death. I can't remember what year it was, but several years ago we went to the Baylor/UT game at Floyd Casey stadium in Waco that Baylor won. The Bears brought down the goal posts they were so thrilled. It took weeks for them to come down from that high. If they beat the Texas in Austin they will be on a year long high.
Losing to Baylor was a fairly regular occurrence in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
David McWilliams’ teams lost to Baylor *in Austin* in 89 & 91.
Mackovic’s team lost (at Baylor) in ‘97... I think that was the last time the Horns lost to Baylor.
We should have both realized that the Longhorns own the Cornhuskers as if they shared a prison cell.
And now that the Cornhuskers are escaping the Big 12 and their abusive relationship with the Longhorns, one must wonder which teams will own the Cornhuskers in the Big 10.
We Texas fans will miss our regularly scheduled stomping of Nebraska and those wonderful trips every four years to the metropolis of Lincoln.
Now we only have Baylor and Iowa State for a guaranteed win every year.
As for who in the Big 10 will own the Cornhuskers, I hear that Ohio State will trade the Cornhuskers for a pack and a half of Kools to Penn State.
The Huskers cannot win against the Horns and the Zebras.
The Huskers cannot win against the Horns and the Zebras.
“The Huskers cannot win against the Horns and the Zebras.”
Don’t be so hard on your Cornhuskers. You must remember, that in their ten Big 12 games with the Longhorns, the Huskers did win that one game.
And of the nine losses that the Huskers suffered to the Longhorns, I don’t recall any where the officials, via a blatantly bad call, determined the outcome of the game.
However, I must congratulate the Cornhuskers for finally leaving the Big 12 after all these years of abuse at the hands of the Longhorns.
Nebraska’s escape from the Big 12 and games and Texas reminds me of those brave women who after years of being battered by their husbands finally muster the courage to move out.
Good Luck in the Big 10 and be sure that Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and even Purdue are salivating at their opportunity to own Nebraska in the same way the Huskers were owned and abused by the Horns.
