Neither.
Donner cut by far ... it’s a shame it wasn’t released like that back then.
Lester Lester Lester.
Richard L. is a terrific and underrated filmmaker who made a very moving matinee film with Superman 2. Richard Donner is a hack who made a piece of faceless glop with the original film.
Richard Lester version.
Both have their pros/cons, good points and flaws, but the Lester version pulled everything together in a much neater and more consistent manner.
At the least, in the Lester version the a**hole trucker and diner patrons REMEMBER Clark Kent when he shows back up and kicks the trucker’s a**.
Just remember, General Zod rules planet Houston.
Now kneel before Zod!
;-p
All I know is never ask for the Donner cut at the Donner party.
Neither. After the first “Superman,” they sucked. Except for “Superman Returns”—I thought that movie was great.
The original Superman was the first “date” movie i ever went to.
I was around 11 years old.
Still, i Like Chris Reeve now but didn’t then and Margot Kidder always grossed me out.
She reminded me of this alcoholic retch that lived in my neighborhood.
Soooooo, yea, i never really liked the Superman movies.
I saw the recent one a few years ago while vacationing in Vermont.
It was pretty good, I liked it. The Movie theater was better though, La-Z boy like seats and booze was served.
Pretty sweet!
Interesting timing. I have the 4 DVD set. Watched them all in past 10 days.
I had a BIG crush on Christopher Reeve. Wore out the old VSH videos on the superman & Somewhere in time
will ping list. A bit discouraged, recently some things I have posted (including a thread this morning on Tony Curtis) have been pulled.
Am I really that naughty?
Thanks for ping sweetie
Gotta go with the Lester release.
I think Richard Donner would have made a better Superman II than Richard Lester. The Donner cut points the direction, but you have to forgive a few inadequacies (test shots subbing for real shots, excessive re-use of themes & sequences from the first movie, etc.).
