Washington Redskins defensive tackle and former good football player Albert Haynesworth did an interview yesterday with DC's 106.7 The Fan.
In it, Haynesworth attempted to defend his offseason actions --specifically, refusing to attend mandatory practices and team activities because he was upset about a potential position change, despite the fact that the Redskins have given him $32 million for just over a year of "service". He likely didn't win anyone over with his argument.
Here's what he said:
I guess in this world we dont have a lot of people with, like, backbones, Haynesworth said. Just because somebody pay you money dont mean theyll make you do whatever they want or whatever. I mean, does that mean everything is for sale?
I mean, Im not for sale. Yeah, I signed the contract and got paid a lot of money, but
that dont mean Im for sale or a slave or whatever.

If he doesn’t want to perform the job asked of him, give the money back. That is why he isn’t getting sympathy. They’d probably trade him somewhere he’d be happier if he did that. This is on him.
Wow...you are right, I totally forgot about our “sue first” society. That really has become just another of the major changes that “we the people” have to remedy. It’s high time for loser pays and dismissal of frivolous lawsuits - with penalties to the applicant.
Thanks for the reminder... Just another thing to add to this revolution of change...
Just wow-— many of us would gladly be a ‘slave’ paid multiple million$ in the NFL. When the football career is over there is plenty of money to spend lots of time enjoying the freedom. Fat mouth Albert deserves slave wages and let another more capable grateful player take his place. The biggest fool is Dan Snyder in letting this thug steal his million$ for services not rendered.
Well said.
Albert, you’re right, you’re not a slave. You can tell Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan you don’t want to do what you’re being paid to do. And the Dan won’t have body parts cut off you or have you flogged. He can just say, “Fine. I’m voiding your contract. Have a nice life.”
This shows how far we have come in the US when even the black people don’t know the meaning of slavery.
Typical shoddy journalism. The “mandatory” practices were optional although “highly recommended”. Albert Haynesworth was within his rights under his contract to skip them.
Haynesworth is past his prime and wildly overpaid.
But apart from that I don’t sympathize with Coach Shanahan, who in my opinion has acted the part of the arrogant management bully. I’ve met a lot of them during my life as an employee.
The Rams sure were their “Masters” today.

Yeah, it do or whatever.
Give the money back and you can do as you wish.
I would suggest taking a remedial English class.
The only way anyone can show their disgust is to write the teams front office, quit going to this teams games, quit buying the merchandise, don’t watch the game on TV, etc....
That won’t happen though.
Until the players realize they are blessed to be so lucky to get payed to just “play a game” you will continue to see spoiled brats like this guy.
