BINGO!
Don't be irresponsible or self destructive, but realize that when it comes to your outcome you have a lot less control/influence than we think we have.
Those that can't enjoy food are denying themselves one of the most basic pleasures of life. It's like being clean and the feeling after a shower. Why don't we start making people feel guilty about that too, since after all you're polluting the environment. If you like a cigar, smoke it. If you like a steak, have one. It's just if you smoke two - three packs a day or drink three quarter bottle of Walker a day you might be over doing it a bit. It's the excessiveness that's bad. 12 pounds over ideal weight, no big deal; 120 pounds over weight, big deal.

As I said upthread, I have known many who got cancer and some who died from it.
NONE were smokers.
Of course your response would be that they knew me who is a smoker and that the 2nd hand smoke did them in!
Smoking isnt good for you, but it isnt the black death folks make it out to be.

He probably worked like a complete madman, too. I used to go winter camping quite a bit when I was younger (30+ below) and I’d eat bacon hot and rubbery and soak up the grease with bread - yum! Point is, work load is everything. Some office schlump going to Denny’s and shoveling down the Grand Slam breakfast every morning probably isn’t going to fare too well in the long run. ‘Course, Genetics help, too.

Wow..were we neighbors? Makes ya wonder how we made it! I wish kids today could “live” like we did back then.
I enjoyed your post.

That's how I keep the flu at bay. I keep my blood alcohol level so high that no germs can survive!

The Gov food pyramid is the biggest load of crap ever.
If I ate the way they say too I would be 250lbs

Ahhhhh so your beliefs are defined by the anecdotal examples of people you know? I guess case closed. Or do you give an credence to other evidence?

It's the excessiveness that's bad.
Exactly. Moderation is the key to both happiness and health, I believe.
Trouble is, far too many people are simply addicted to excess. Once these excessaholics find out their favorite excess is unhealthy, they chuck that one, wage all-out political war on it, and find a new one to over-indulge in (e.g. exercising or calorie-counting or saving the planet) - or perhaps even turning their pet-cause war into their new favorite excess!
As Thucydides said, "Self-control is the chief element in self-respect." (But to these excessaholics, self-control and moderation are foreign concepts.)
