In late July, Trisha went into hospice. Shortly after, Jim and her parents agreed to honor her request. It was the most agonizing moment of Jim’s life, but he told doctors to remove her feeding tube. Only the tube that helped her breathe remained.

I have to wonder if this young lady had anything in writing. If she didn't want a feeding tube, why would she have wanted breathing assistance? Seems bizarre to me.

As I’m reading the article I’m thinking that if the docs can’t get to all of a brain tumor, thereby classifying it as ‘inoperable’, wouldn’t the better alternative be to go under the knife and let them try and get it all out?

I’m in no way criticizing this beautiful woman or her husband for her decision but if I was in that position I’d say my good-byes before the first surgery and tell them to get it all. If they get in there and have to slice something out that shouldn’t be touched in order to get it all out and I either die on the table or never come out of a coma afterwards, then the end result is the same, right?

Besides, maybe they’d learn something.

in my wife’s case, they removed the breathing tube (after medicating her), and things were over within a half hour. wonder why they would use the feeding tube approach which takes weeks?
nad it was her choice too. i miss her.
