Aren’t earthquakes natural disasters? Dozens, if not hundreds, have been killed in California and Arkansas thanks to them, but they don’t seem to count on this map.

Ya, but the U.S. and place like CA don't have Haiti building codes...That is why so few die in modern American earthquakes.

Tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes are the big killers and happen all the time in the Midwest, northeast etc....
