The new Hawaii Five-O could have been just another gussied-up TV re-launch (no, Im not a big fan of 90210). Instead, Hawaiis premiere episode was fun: Swift, sometimes funny, well-cast, especially in the supporting roles. Its sure not anything approaching revolutionary TV, but right now, its solid 10 p.m.-Monday entertainment.

It was alright. On a scale of 1 being horrible and 10 being a MUST see I give it a 7.5. It is NOTHING like the 60s/70s series but in and of itself it is more of a Miami Vice/A-Team type show. I will probably watch it again.
I watched last night.
I was not impressed.
A shortened version of a hyped movie.
It doesn’t have the same ‘feel’ of the original.
I pretty much agree with you.
I saw it last night. It was no 24 or The Unit, but it wasn’t half bad. I liked it better than I liked the first episode of NCIS LA last year.
SnakeDoc
I’m watching the next episode with Wo Fat.
But does it have a cool theme song? (Can’t watch vids at work)
Not great but not too bad either.
It was terrible, like a bad buddy cop flick, but I’ll give it another shot as it was just the pilot. Jack Lord (eccentric as he was) had gravitas. Alex O’Loughlin is too young by 10 years and doesn’t nearly have the chops. Scott Caan was Ok, and the other two were barely on the screen. The villians were one-dimensional, the violence overdone, and the haole-native tension done in typical PC crap fashion.
Personally, I think the children that infest Hollywood are incapable of re-creating this show, even in an updated version.
I did like the redone credits and the Mercury under the tarp, though.
It’s sort of Hawaii Five-O meets Miami Vice. It’s also an ensemble show, whereas the original had Jack Lord as the star with the other characters used as props.
The original show had excellent production values and lasted for 12 seasons.
LOL :)
Really? I thought the writing stunk on ice. The story line is contrived and the acting is stilted. That’s an hour of my life I won’t get back.
Then don’t watch it again. I am entitled to my opinion and you yours.
Same - but shortened - theme song with pretty much the same arrangement. In fact, some of the musicians who recorded the original also recorded the new one.
Prediction:
They will destroy it by hideously overplaying the politically-correct/non-judgmental/diversity bullsh!t.
Steve McGarrett was highly judgmental.
The Jack Lord “wannabe” was pretty good, but the Dano Williams guy was kinda corney!
I hope you’re wrong but I fear that you’re right.
It stands a chance, then. :-)
