Who are the Browns?
Tune in for Sister Wives, premiering Sunday, Sept. 26, at 10 PM (ET/PT), and explore the complex daily life of a polygamist family.
Meet husband Kody along with his three wives: Meri, Janelle and Christine and their combined 13 children and see how they attempt to navigate life as a "normal" family in a society that shuns their lifestyle. From their unconventional family structure and living arrangements to financial challenges, each half hour episode exposes the inner workings of a polygamist household, revealing the unexpectedly tight-knit and loving relationships between Kody's wives.
Sister Wives also captures the intense dynamics surrounding a man juggling three wives while attempting to keep it a secret from the outside world but the general public is not the only challenge that the Brown family unit is facing. The series begins with Kody announcing plans to take on another wife and her three kids and although expected, the news is met with mixed feelings. Meri, Janelle and Christine were married before starting families so all of the children grew up as siblings. And for sixteen years, the Sister Wives have established their own role within the group and worked together to maintain a cohesive, loving unit. Bringing on a fourth wife could easily disrupt the balance, changing lives forever. The series chronicles the growing pains as Robyn and her kids assimilate into the family and the sister wives work through the insecurities and uncertainties that are inevitable to their chosen way of life.

It was late and I was sleepy ... I just had to VENT and hog up a thread on it. It is so revolting. People are becoming so PRIMATIVE.
Ping
Knowing these distrubed people, they’d think it was great if the daughter of one “wife” married the son of another “wife”. Why not? Look at how the “adults” are living. It’s sick.
THE HOWARD BEALE SHOW
Your *primitive* description is accurate. Early man took wives to have more children for labor - it was still a benefit in the agricultural era. Marriage began as a religious and subsequently a legal state - because it was civilizing and esteemed.
I doubt there will be many men criticizing Kody’s situation - it has to be every man’s fantasy - some just dream while others sneak around committing adultery. Plus, there are too many willing women who think nothing of breaking up families, just to have a baby daddy.
Look at other shows on TLC - LA Ink! What a freak! Tattoos all over her body! In the old days she could have been the Freak Show attraction. There are other shows like Gossip Girls and Rehab ... it's incredibly vile. It's exalting an uncivilized society. Social mores are disintegrating. Kids and unstable adults that watch this are becoming desensitized to what is right, wrong and timeless truisms.
No society can flourish or last with this as entertainment.
“Nobody is going to find sinister muzzies to be sympathetic characters.”
It is necessary for the Progressives to Normalize Polygamy in order to make Islam more acceptable.
Just one of the steps to desensitization.
In the U.S. they had lots of children to help in farming but polygamy was NEVER accepted here and this was NOT the norm. It would violate our Judeo Christian heritage.
Good point!
In my shock and disgust, I never thought of that.
Do you really want this?
There was a 4th wife, but the one on the right there ate her.
Unfortunately, I knew somebody would make a comment along those lines. For me, the real unfortunate part is that it’s absolutely true.
You made me chuckle! (and I don’t do that very much anymore)
The “holy crap look what these freaks do” will out weigh anything the “accept behavior” crowd says. People like their circus side shows AS circus side shows, when the side show becomes normal it becomes boring, and when it becomes acceptable it becomes unmockable and people lose their favorite TV show.
Am I the only one to see this?
They want to keep it secret so they have a .......wait for it.......TELEVISION SHOW....Are you serious, how secret is it for you now sport?
The only “Browns” I know are Jim Ed, Bonnie and Maxine. Some of the most beautiful harmony ever unleashed on the world.
The rest of you, just go somewhere!!!
What is creepier is now that I see a photo, I think we may have an incest thing going on..jeeze, they could all be brother and sisters.
This is the first strike at widening marriage to include multiple partners. Ten years ago a series about two gay guys getting married would have seemed just as inappropriate. First they soften you up, then they write legislation.
I suppose they figured out his price.
Now it doesn’t have to be a secret anymore.
But each child’s perspective is one Mommy (who gave birth to them) and one Daddy, whom they share - thus almost as good as a married two parent family.
