As long as 3-D TV requires you wear special glasses, it will essentially remain a niche product. The push right now should be for almost all TV programming to go to high-definition broadcasting.

Yes. Because the 3-D with glasses has been around for decades. It never really had much impact on movies in theaters. It will probably have a similar low impact on home TVs.

April 8, 1953, the first big Hollywood 3D film hits movie screens: Man In The Dark, starring Edmond O'Brien. It was described as underwhelming.

There appears to be medical issues with it because it causes unpleasant side-effects in a significant number of people.
