Craig Grant didn't like cats. But that changed when his son moved out, leaving his cat, Pepper, behind. And just when Craig was getting used to having one cat, he found out Pepper was pregnant.
Five kittens later, Craig was ready to adopt them out until his son said they must stay with their mother for 8 weeks. "It wasn't long before the kittens were swinging from my curtains," he notes on his website.
The cats started to be a problem for Craig. Not only were neighbors complaining but the cats were being harassed, like being shot with B.B. guns. A newspaper advertisement led him to a tree farm 100 miles away from his Jacksonville condo.
He immediately loved the tree farm and bought 30 acres where he quickly erected an office trailer as a cat shelter. It had pet doors and padded shelving for long cat naps. The sanctuary is in the middle of 100 acres of wildlife.

“The key is to NEVER let them know they arent a dog.”
right out of the shoot, that’s where i went wrong. ;)
That’s too many cats in one place. He should let people adopt cats from the ranch.
MEOW! I'm all for petting!
Thank You!
that man is an angel...
Might be fun to go to this guy’s kitchen and use the can opener and see what happens. :-)
I would do the same thing. When I win lotto I am going to buy a shelter and land and take care of cats!
My son has a dog that was raised with 2 cats. The dog thinks he's a cat. It's funny to watch him play like a cat! heh
Cats are so great! Much better than dogs......thank you God for creating them.....purrfect joy.
Don't look under the refrigerator.
Amen! I told a friend at lunch yesterday that I would do this exact thing if I had the resources!
Be glad you are only finding ping pong balls and cat toys - I find lizards without tails or legs, and sometimes live chipmunks
The guy’s a saint. Fourteen hours a day keeping care of his kittehs in their forever home. That’s what we promise all of ours too. We’ve had a few challenging cats, but we said, “forever,” and we meant it.
UPDATE: Miss Hissy Slashy is still alive, but she has decided that Lucas (Prince of Darkness) is the enemy. Sigh...
That little kitty village, Town Hall and all, is just too cute!
Don’t look under the stove.
Don’t look under the washer/dryer.
If an area rug is out of place, just leave it. If you move it to its original position, it will only get “adjusted” again.
If this were in DFW, I’d volunteer in a heartbeat. I love kittehz, but my husband is allergic :(
Don’t look under the dust kittens either. ;-)
Ceiling Cat shall bless him with cheezburgers for all his days.
My wife and I had a Siamese female who would, when she was done playing, police up the area and deposit her toys back in a small red bucket set in a corner. Several years into her life we were gifted with a polydactyl gray tiger kitten. She was a cutie with white mittens! Within a month, Ming (the Siamese) had Mittens trained to help her put things away. The only things they missed were little objects that had slipped out of reach under the couch's.
Early on Ming adopted me as one of her kittens. When I sat down she was there to keep me company, sit in my lap, curl up and nap, or groom herself. Occasionally she would absentmindedly continue grooming my arm. BTW Ming is short for "Ming the Magnificent, Empress of the entire universe and anything else worth having". Anyone else who has had Siamese knows that all cats have style but Siamese wrote the book!
Regards,
GtG
