WOR (710 AM) is not exactly skid row. Bob Grant wound up there, as well for a while after some kerfuffle. I think they actually beat WABC in ratings in several time slots, but they must have an older demographic. Rambling with Gambling was aptly named.

Also, NYC actually has an audience for whiners. Malzberg, Behar and Samuels were all whiners. It might be a stereotype-non-practicing Jew schtick, but they all whined and they all had their audiences.
