When I click on the FR "Activity" tab, rather than listing the posts in order of most activity, I get the following error message.
Your query returned no results.
What am I missing?
Yeah, cats seems to love walking on keyboards or laying on top of recently shut laptops (because of their warmth) :)
We have reported this problem before - it is a “real one” - and have been told that they don’t have the dollars to fix it:
I’ve asked but cannot tell you how much they (Jim Robinson, et al and his volunteer crew at Free Republic) need to correct the programming search function that is linkedd to that key. Nor do I know what database search and sort (a PERL sub-routine?) process changed in the server network that runs Free Republic that
(1) now causes FR to run and load slower than in April and May
(2) caused the root problem that disabled this search function sometime in May
Sorting the threads by the tens of thousands of replies by “last changed” is a very useful, very important routine. I too miss it greatly. We may need to wait for the next fund-raiser. ?????
I’m still looking for the ‘anykey’ they always say to push...
This maybe the results of the crash that occurred a month or so back and hasn’t been fixed. I don’t click the activity tab so I have no idea how long it has been down.
It’s the one the cat took off and hid under the refrigerator.
I never use that function ... but I’m a monthly donor, so it’s not my fault it doesn’t work.
(Robt cleverly and circumspectfully refuses to be drawn and quartered into publick discusses of tax-chicks’ monthly donation functions ....)
Yeah, my monthly functions aren’t a fit subject for teh publik interwebs, especially at lunch time.
I’m just happy to have the state flags back, and I’m sure John will fix the other widget before California falls off the continent.
It has nothing to do with dollars. John says he’s going to have to re-write that portion of the program.
OK. No problem.
(What’s John’s favorite ratio of lines-of-code/six-packs-of-beverage estimated to be? 8<)
