A St. Petersburg police officer shot and killed two dogs Sunday night that were attacking a blind dog, according to the police department.

At around 8:17 p.m., Officer Slobodan Juric was dispatched to the 4600 block of 6th Ave. North in reference to a suspicious person call.

When Juric arrived, he talked to residents who were outside about the suspicious-person call and asked if they had seen the person who was wanted.

While he was talking to residents, a Rottweiler and a Chesapeake Bay retriever, who were on leashes, attacked a blind dog that was off its leash but next to its owner, police said.

Both the dogs that were killed were reported to be ‘Very Spiritual’ by their owner.

Much safer way to handle this would be O.C. spray. Less chance of hurting bystanders. More likely to get the blind dog, but everybody goes home. Dogs hate O.C.

I imagine the blame will go to the bling dog’s owner who had his dog off leash.

Just exactly what did the owner of the two dogs on leash do while his dogs were attacking that blind dog?

Sit and watch?

The cop needs to be psychologically evaluated. His reaction was clear and literal overkill.

The problem is one dog off the leash. The article says they tried to separate the dogs, but if one is off the leash he will keep running for the other two and the fight continues. The idiot cop should have just let the owners sort it out, but if he had to shoot, he should have shot the dog of the irresponsible owner— the one that was off the leash.

It is good to know that an agent of the state can summarily destroy my property with no restitution.

What’s next...two bulls fighting, so a cop has to shoot one?

Ferrets wrestling...well, better pick one to shoot.

Goats butting heads...where’s the sniper?

Oh no...two flocks of birds fighting, better secure a weapon and begin to fire wildly into the air.

Dogs fighting are a civil matter. Not a criminal one. Dogs argue, dogs fight.

The only thing scarier than this cop having a weapon and a badge is the sycophants here who believe it is a good thing that an agent of the state can shoot your two LEASHED dogs.

Armed bureaucrats are never wrong though...I’m sure he made the right decision.

According to other news stories, the “leash holder” has told at least four completely different stories. Coupling that with the common reality that the various parties involved have differing perceptions, and you have an open question as to whether the officer “acted stupidly,” or acted appropriately.

But, it is no doubt more fun, and a lot easier, to (and more presidential) to presume that the LEO is both stupid and evil.
