Wow, that’s so weird. I was just thinking of him yesterday. I was pondering how McMahon’s failed experiments at mixing religion and wrasslin’, and I thought of the very short-lived Friar Furguson, which of course led to Mike’s slightly more successful gimmick in Bastion Booger.

RIP Mike.

Mike Shaw ping

also... Rest in Peace - Joseph "JC" Bailey Jr. (Independent wrestler)

(Can't say I'm familiar with Bailey)

As always, if you'd like ON or OFF my wrasslin' ping list, let me know

Norman The Lunatic was a classic.

Loved that guy!

"Norman the Lunatic" was my favorite of his various personas. Shortly after that, he became "Trucker Norm", a short-lived truck driver gimmick in WCW.

RIP Mr. Shaw.

I hadn't thought about it before, but you're right - for a while there, McMahon seemed to be trying to develop a wrestling and religion connection. There was "Friar Ferguson" (lasted about two weeks!) and another short-lived gimmick: he had the "Headbangers" wrestling as a pair of nuns! (don't remember the name of that tag team.) Also, around the same time, Bruce Pritchard's "Brother Love" evangelist gimmick was getting a major push.

The Undertaker, in his Ministry phase, put Stephanie McMahon up on his special Undertaker cross.

Then there was the time Vince McMahon challenged Shawn Michaels to a tag-team match, with Shane as Vince’s partner, and God Almighty to be Shawn’s partner. This would include a skit with the McMahons in church making a mockery of whatever they could think of. The match itself would have God “no-show” leaving Shawn to fend for himself.

Yeah but I was at the show in STL when he Unveiled “McMahonism” and the crowd absolutely took a dump all over it.
