NEW YORK (AP) -- Kim Clijsters is one win from her second straight U.S. Open title after beating Venus Williams in three sets for her 20th straight victory at Flushing Meadows.
Clijsters will play seventh-seeded Vera Zvonareva for the championship Saturday night. Zvonareva reached her second straight Grand Slam final, defeating top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-3 on Friday.
The second-seeded Clijsters won 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4 to beat Williams for the fifth straight time. She broke Williams with a perfect backhand lob to allow herself to serve out the match.
Clijsters is seeking to become the first woman since Williams in 2001 to successfully defend her U.S. Open title. She also won the tournament in 2005.
The 30-year-old Williams, seeded third, was trying to reach her first U.S. Open final since 2002.

It’s been 8 years since Venus reached this final? She is old and I am too.
Good for Kim.
I’d rather see her in the Championship than an over weight, anti-American, Race baiting, Williams sister.
*clears throat* I have a little trouble with the Williams sisters as well. That combined with the fact I really like Kim, made the match super enjoyable. Zvonareva is playing really well; should be a good final ...
She is old and I am too.I hear ya! I've been watching tennis for decades now ...

Good grief! You think 30 is old?
For a tennis player? Yes. Seems like yesterday the Williams sisters were going pro.
My DVR is paused right now at the end of the second set because we had unexpected company. If the title had not contained the result, I would not have viewed the thread.
It should be considered poor form to post the results of a sporting match within hours of the result. Most sports headlines include the result of a particular contest. And to report these results a day later makes it no longer very newsworthy.
I like watching tennis as well. Good for Kim — I really like her. Should be a fun ladies finals with the Z.
I like her I’m glad she won. But I wish Wozinaki had won. I ‘ll have to catch the replay of the Tennis Channel.
