Stating they are over priced —there is no argument to the fact that Apple enjoys nice profit margins and people are willing to pay for the brand — is not a demand that they should sell for a lower price. I have no problem with the fact that Apple is able to get what they ask for just like Starbucks is able to get people to pay a lot extra for their fancy sounding coffee. Is it your opinion that in the market of comparable PC’s that Apple is not over priced considering they don’t have as large a hard drive or the same amount of memory as comparable PCs? I do agree the user experience is FAR SUPERIOR with Apple than with a PC and that is one reason why Apple can command a higher price for their product. But don’t misinterpret my comment to mean that I demand Apple should lower their prices.

The reason I chose the top of the line iMac is that to my knowledge, no one makes a comparable computer to it. They are literally the only one competing in the 27 in all in one market. They cannot be overpriced for it because there is nothing to compare it to. The last time I asked someone to tell me how much it should cost, they built one at new egg that I believe was $600 cheaper. Once the transition from tower to all in one and self-built to manufacturer is accounted for, I don’t think it would have been dramatically different. Especially if the comparison is say Sony who also tends to have higher margins.

Unique form factors, to me at least, make direct comparisons difficult. In the one work station space where they are similar, I think they come out as comparable if not cheaper.
