A case of friendly fire wounds a McMinn County deputy assisting Etowah officers in an investigation.
Deputy Brad Johnson, along with police officers was executing an outstanding warrant on Judson Green at a residence just outside of Etowah early this morning.
Green attempted to flee the scene and officers opened fire on his car, one of the six shots fired by officers ricocheted and hit Deputy Johnson in the torso.
Johnson, who was wearing ballistic body armor, was not injured but was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center for evaluation and was later released.
Deputy Johnson did not fire his gun during the incident.
Aren’t there some kind of rules regarding shooting fleeing suspects? Was this guy wanted for murder or other violent crime? Was the crook shooting at them?
More info:
Deputy Brad Johnson had responded to assist Etowah police early Monday in investigating a vehicle that had been involved in an earlier offense.
When driver Judson Green, who had an outstanding warrant on violation of community corrections, attempted to flee, Etowah police fired six shots in his direction. One of those ricocheted and struck Johnson in the torso.

Nope and nope...
Remember the NOLA roof top incident in 70’s where they thought they had a sniper cornered, LEO’s half mooned the small structure on the roof and recon’d by fire hitting their own. It was great video watchin em spray full auto etc and scary watching a few of em falling down wounded.
Bad news when they found out there was no one in the small building on the roof and they had shot each other......
The event I spoke of above...... at 1:20 in the video the cops start killing / wounding themselves. The bad guy was in a separate structure on the roof, not the big one to best of my memory.
