NEW YORK (AP) -- Sometimes there's no going back.
JetBlue Airways says that there will be no second exits for famed flight attendant Steven Slater - who captured the nation's imagination with his profanity-laced loudspeaker tirade and jump down a plane's emergency chute, beer in hand.
Spokeswoman Jenny Dervin said Saturday that Slater is no longer employed by the airline. She said the airline won't release further details out of respect for Slater's privacy.
Slater's lawyer had said he loved flying and wanted to return to work, and Slater's folk-hero status among tens of thousands of online fans had led some of them to urge the airline to keep him on.

In this Aug. 10, 2010 file photo, JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater leaves a correctional facility in the Bronx after posting bail in New York. JetBlue Airways says that there will be no second exits for Slater, who captured the nation's imagination with his profanity-laced loudspeaker tirade and jump down a plane's emergency chute, beer in hand.
His next gig will be as the celebrity judge on Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
His flying should henceforth be restricted to fairy wings.
Next on “Dancing with the Stars: Steven Slater and Bristol Palin!”
Or maybe Miss America judge, given that he has identical qualifications to Perez Hilton.
He looks to be a close relative of Liberace’s? Can’t wait for the book or the new T.V. series due out soon...
Drama queen...
Jet Blue sucks ... They hit me with a $100 per ticket charge when — a month before the flight— I had to cancel out.
There’s more ... Jet blue kept the rest of my money and gave me a year to use it up ... which I didn’t ... Total loss to me was about $500.
Most airlines now have outrageous change/cancellation fees. Southwest on the other hand, even if you do not buy a refundable ticket, if you cancel you get the full price as a credit to your next purchase with no penalty fees.
I am sure he had a s**t job but his antics cost the company money and aggravation. I guess he was expecting some reality show gig on the qu**r channel. Looks like no one is interested in an aging Judy Garland fan.
I married a NY city gal ... met her in a USO ... Best catch of my life ... she’s passed on ... miss her.
Isn’t that standard now?
