DETROIT - An animal cruelty officer, we're told, was shot Thursday by a Detroit Police officer, who was aiming at a loose pit bull.
This all started at a house on Fairport that is suspected of being a chop shop. In fact, Detroit Police were at the location investigating when they learned that three pit bulls were protecting the property. The Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society was called to safely remove the dogs.
We're told those officers were setting traps when one of the dogs got loose. A Detroit Police officer then fired off twelve rounds. One animal cruelty officer was struck in the back of the leg. Another bullet grazed his buttocks.
Another animal cruelty officer was also struck in the boot, but not injured.

We need to ban cops with guns. They are too dangerous and unpredictable. Adults clearly are not responsible gun owners. /s
You see, these type of stories of aggressive cops are happening to frequently to just be a fluke. Obviously, the time has come to ban cops. Yeah, I know we only hear the negative stories about cops but that is not the point. I only hear bad stories about cops and I don’t have to be reasonable or logical. If a few are bad, then they ALL must be!! Ban cops!!/s

The cop must have been scared witless by all the anti-pit bull propaganda in the media.
To know them. Is to love them. :) Trust me on this....
Let’s see if the shooter faces the same charges a citizen would face for doing that.

Most of these pathetic stories come from big rotten cities, with what Colin Powell called “urban values”.
I would not want to disarm all POs because of these decayed departments and their degraded hiring and training standards.
This is the logic the anti-gun people apply to us. These incidents do not represent the typical practices in most jurisdictions.
I agree. But, given how much of the upper echelon of law enforcement supports gun control, I think a taste of the same stereotyping is in order. Maybe they’ll get a clue. If not, they really DON’T need guns.

Are there any studies about the frequency of female cops freaking out compared to males?
It sure seems like an inordinate amount of these cases are women. But I have nothing to back that up with.
