The equipment wasn't moved, and it doesn't have a flash.

Not discounting the rest of the story but it CERTAINLY has a flash.

Look at the pic.. duh.

I've had two of these devices and they most certainly have a flash.

Yep.... mine have IR flash. I use it as part of my security system. No martians captured yet..... YET !
