***ATTENTION*** Facebook launched Facebook Places yesterday. Anyone can find out where you are located when you are on Facebook via GLOBAL POSITIONING APPLICATION! To disable this feature:
Go to account
Account Settings
Notifications - scroll down to PLACES
UNCHECK 2 boxes (Places,Tags me at a Place ...&...Comments on my visits to Places) ......and SAVE CHANGES.
Please COPY to your status and pass it on.

People also need to modify their settings on their smartphone that has the facebook application.

I’m raising the BS flag on this, at least as written ... a GPS application would need the satellite signals to compute your position. I dont know of many facebook users that have a GPS antenna as part of their desktop.
There has to be missing info in this article/warning.
That’s what I was thinking, the only thing I can think of is that it extrapolates your general location from the IP address.
If you use FB on your mobile, it would tag me all over the place. I turned off the GPS locator on my cell as well
I have Facebook and everyone knows I am in Italy stationed on a base so it is no big deal. But thank you for the information especially when I get back to the states next year.
And if I did this, how will I keep in touch with friends and family? The good is way more benefit than negative.

The family members we “lost” were total libs/commies. It started with banter back and forth, between my sister and I and our cousins and their friends, then it just became nasty.
The libs deleted my sister and I because we were “nazis” who hate barry because he’s black. Didn’t matter how many facts we posted to them, the only thing they could come back with is rhetoric and nothing to back it up.
They became very defensive when we asked for proof, just as we did, to back up any of our claims. Instead, they decided to call us nazis and delete us as friends and say “their conscience couldn’t allow us to be friends anymore”.
I believe they can get the info from your IP address.
