Thunderbird works okay? Saw it got 2 out of 5 stars in some reviews.

I'll second that. Thunderbird. It rocks. Be sure to get Lightning, the integrated calender add on.

Yep, Thunderbird is an excellent choice. I just installed it on my neighbor’s new WindoZ 7 computer. It was a little different on the setup from previous versions I had used. It detected a SMTP server where I needed to set up a POP3 e-mail setup. Had to delete the setup and manually setup the POP3. I suspect the mail server had the option of SMTP for their employees.

Beautiful mail client with more options than you really need.

And of course it is much less likely to be compromised than Outlook or Outlook Express was.
