Commercial breaks are up to 6 minutes on some programs and add up to about 21 minutes per hour of programming.

I just watch tv shows on the internet - those 60 minute long shows are shaved down to 42.

I am doing that more and more. Also, many times I will DVR an program just so I can watch it later and skip through the commercials. Netflix is increasing its streaming TV series offerings, and they are commercial free.

Program content from the 70s was about 48 minutes in length. Program content from 2010 is about 39 minutes in length. That is allot of commercial crap, especially when it is the same commecials over and over. Sometimes they even show the exact same commercial twice during the same break.
