Denver Cops Again - beat a man, news story and raw video of the incident
Fox31 Denver ^

What started as a walk to the park with his dogs ended with a trip to the hospital for a Denver dog owner. 32-year-old Mark Ashford says he was beaten black and blue by two Denver Police officers.

"They punched him and pinned him up against the fence and forced his head into the concrete." Ashford's attorney, Will Hart, said the beating that was caught on camera is a clear case of Excessive More..Force. "This happened when he was walking his dogs, he has a conversation with another citizen that the police officer doesn't like and as a result, he ends up in the hospital," said Hart.

Hart says Mark Ashford was walking his dogs near 20th and Little Raven in LoDo, when he saw police pull over a driver for failing to stop at a stop sign. Ashford told the driver he saw him stop and would be willing to testify in court. Hart says the officer overheard him and "wasn't very happy."

That's when Ashford says the Denver police officers demanded his I.D. and detained him. Ashford tried to take a picture of the officers to document the incident, and a few second later he was on the ground.

Police charged Ashford with interference and resisting arrest. Hart says, the charges were later dropped because the officers violated Ashford's 4th amendment rights, "they had no reason to stop him, take his ID or detain him.

An Excessive Force complaint was filed against both officers involved. A Denver police spokesperson says the internal affairs department has completed its investigation, but they are now turning the case over to the independent police monitor. Police won't say if the officers were disciplined in any way until the investigation is complete

the dog walker merely walked up to the motorist and told them he saw them stop and would testify to the end.

Exactly.

He did this in the presence of the cops, which was a dumb move on his part.

Had he waited he would have accomplished his goal, not gotten beat up and the cops would not have known they had somebody to refute their story.

The man that got beat up would have been well advised to observe from a distance and then give his name quietly to the man who was ticketed.

That is what the man is claiming occurred.

Watch the video, the man was up on the sidewalk and the cops walked over to him.

Stepping into the middle of it and basically inferring that the cops were lying was not a good plan.

Where are you seeing that?

That is not what I saw. I saw the cops walk up to the citizen who was standing on the sidewalk.

That was how it was reported verbally by the broadcaster.

You should watch the video.

The dog walker did not walk into the middle of anything. The cops walk towards the dog walker, who is clearly up on the sidewalk, and no where near a citizens receiving a ticket.

He did this in the presence of the cops, which was a dumb move on his part.

What are you taking about?

The beating did not occur while the dog walker was talking to the motorist.

Had he waited he would have accomplished his goal, not gotten beat up and the cops would not have known they had somebody to refute their story.

Did you watch the video?

The motorist was not attacked for speaking to a motorist. The beating occured after that, while the dog walker was standing on the sidewalk, by himself.

You don't seem to be paying attention here.

Are you defending these cops in this incident, as you seem to imply that the dog walker asked to be attacked by the cops, and you seem to be suggesting this was the dog walkers fault.

Ya, you are defending the cops here.

You've been told repeatedly, the attack occurred after the dog walker spoke with the motorist, which the video depicts, yet you completely ignore this glaring fact.

Why would you defend the cops in this incident?

If any one is not paying attention it is you, not me. Listen to the attorney Will Hartz (sp?):

He describes the victim as approaching the driver which the "police officer didn't like"

He then later says: "The officer heard this (referring to the comment about testifying), was not happy with it." So the cops were right there during this conversation.

And NO I am not saying the beating was his fault. I am saying the guy could have avoided all of this by waiting until the cops left before talking to the driver.

Really?

Question:

#1. Did the video evidence show the dog walker being attacked while he was speaking to a motorist?

#2. Did the video evidence depict the dog walker being attacked after the fact, as the cops approached him, while he standing on the sidewalk by himself?

Can you be honest here?

1 or 2?

Here is the article associated with that thread. Scroll to the bottom and you will see a longer video (“Watch the raw video below”) which starts with the guy getting a citation of some sort.

After reading your comments, and watching you ignore obvious facts, I can only hope you’re not involved in law enforcement.

She didn’t actually do anything.

From the full video "she" actually gets in the guys way as he tries to leave...prior to the arrest.

There are two videos at that link. The one on the bottom shows the guy getting two pieces of paper from the cop (the citation, I assume?). That is the most complete version I’ve seen. It is raw video with no newsie commentary.

No city needs police officers who are criminals.
Speaking of which... what's the latest word from Las Vegas? Anything being done yet about the cold-blooded execution of a citizen in that Costco parking lot?

Raw Video

Do you need me to come to your house an push "play"? ;)

Wait through the green commercial at the beginning and the video starts with the cops writing the citation for the dog walker.

LOL

Now you are being an ass. You act as if I am sitting here waiting on baited breath for your immediate astute observations. The reason I am not is this is not as high on my priority list as it seems to be on yours.

watching you ignore obvious facts,

Let me make this real simple for you:

Being right, got the guy put in the hospital, being smart would have avoided that.
