It sure can be aggravating when someone in the express check out line has more than 10 items.
But calling a woman fat and ugly is taking things too far.
Police report a man who berated a woman in a Washington state grocery store is now charged with disorderly conduct.
The Port Washington woman said she asked the express lane clerk if she could check out.
There was no one else in line.
But while the cashier was ringing up her items, a male customer started making ugly comments.
The woman called 911.
The responding officer gave the angry male customer a $429 ticket.
The woman tells a local TV station (WISN) the man deserves it.

But calling a woman fat and ugly is taking things too far. The ugly already know who they are.

'"The female subject, the complainant, then turned back toward the man (and said) 'I got permission here. Is there a problem?' That's when the person said to her, 'Yeah, the problem is that you're ugly and fat,'" officer Barry Effinger said.'
Dam, $429, for being honest.

The woman called 911. The responding officer gave the angry male customer a $429 ticket. A false call to 911 can result in jail time.

Why did he hang around until the 911 response team showed up?

disorderly conduct
That's a vague catch-all terminology if I ever heard one, if it can be applied to simply berating someone.
Couldn't a recruit bring charges against his drill sgt for something like this? How about a football coach after a missed assignment or an NBA coach screaming at a referee?
Can you dial 911 if someone gives you the evil eye?
Unless this guy was verbally threatening, no way this rises to a civil misdemeanor and a fine.

She should have gotten the ticket. What part of “10 items or less” doesn’t she understand? And the cashier should not have let her check out in the express land if she was in obvious violation.
The real solution is to rig the register so that it won’t ring more than 10 items in a sale in that lane.

I wonder if coaches can make a disorderly conduct call against a cheerleader who is out of formation.

“Why is it that when something like this happens the cops seem to always respond almost instantly, but when someone is having his/her house broken into, or is being raped, assaulted or murdered, cops always seem to arrive much later?”
Which call would you rather respond to?
My uncle pointed out to me that even in San Francisco, probably the gay prostitution capital of the USA, the cops still seem to prefer hassling the ladies of the night.
Who would YOU rather deal with for a couple hours during arrest, driving, booking, etc?

Indication that the crime rate in this town is very low or they have too many police on duty at one time. Alternate conclusion, the city needs more revenue tickets and this was a call that added $429 to the city budget.

I’ve called worse names than that. But ever my beard and hair turned gray I pretty much quick making scenes. Especially after a young girl said “You’re making a scene”.

That's why.

Guy sounds like a jerk, but would like to know what he was ticketed for.Cops have carte blanche with the Disorderly Conduct charge. If they can't get you for ANYTHING, they can ALWAYS tag you for D.C.

So the guy starts making nasty comments to the woman. The woman calls 911 over it. Then the police fine the guy. Nastiness and over-reaction by everyone involved. A good reason never to visit Saukville, Wisconsin.
