When I saw the headline, I thought “Woman, what an odd last name for poor Warren. Shall I address him as Mr. Woman?” After all I am sure there are a few Miss Manns out there.

Shot in the back? At least have the decency to put one between the eyes (save a round for the inbred owner).

“She waited... until she got on her property and took the shot... with my four-year-old son right there (and) with other kids down the street,” said Timothy Bauswell.

OK little Timmy Bauswell, WTF was your dog doing on HER property attacking HER dog?

If your dog is roaming loose with children around, who is to say it would not go from attacking small dogs to attacking small children?

I am a dog lover and a dog owner. I say this because some dog owners are not going to like my opinion.

If the shooter was telling the truth about the neighbor’s dog she was completely justified.

Every dog owner is responsible for the actions of their dog. You are also responsible for keeping your dog on your property.

The shot dog’s owner admits that his dog was shot on the neighbor’s property. He has no one to blame other than himself.

Fence in your dog or put it on a leash or don’t complain if someone shoots your dog.

If a stray dog comes on my property and I consider it a threat, I will not hesitate to shoot. I have collected several strays and taken them to the pound so I am not trigger happy in that regard but I will not take chances with a threatening animal.

“They say the dog is friendly and plays with all the kids in the area.”

Sorry, but NOBODY would be stupid enough to let their kid play with a neighbor’s pit-bull.

My only question is did they eat the pit bull? Seems as though this is another wild animal that should be thought of as a game animal.

Bon apitit!

. . . Spelling intentional.

Good for her. Those are the muslims of the dog world and serve absolutely no purpose. Can they provide good companionship? Sure but so can any number of dogs that don’t have that kind of destructive potential and that don’t intimated everyone who passes by. Get a lab, or a setter, or a spaniel, or a beagle, etc, etc, etc.

Looks like a sweet dog... I have a crazy neighbor that is scared of my boxers ... he has a small yappy dog also ... the crazy guy’s yapper bit my dog on the nose one day and he called animal control on my dog because he barked at his yapper (his yapper had assumed the surrender position on his back and was unharmed) what a moron! ...

This old lady sounds like the same kind of person. I would sue the cr*p out of her for vet bills and try to instigate an arrest for unlawful discharge of a firearm or something similar.

P.S. Chet99 .. get help

No problem at all. An animal attacking a pet dog can and should be shot.

To: Chet 99; y'all

More info here...

A Warren woman who saw her little Shih Tzu being attacked by her neighbor’s pit bull shot the pit bull on the front lawn of her house in the 20700 block of Albany Street.

The dog was taken for treatment and has survived the bullet wound.

The incident occurred at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday when the woman was on her porch unlocking her house door, Warren police Detective Lt. Michael Torey said. She said her dog was on a leash and only a few feet away from her.

“She heard her dog making a high-pitch sound,” Torey said. “When she turned around she saw the pit bull with her Shih Tzu in his mouth and on its back.”

The woman unsuccessfully tried to separate the two dogs, Torey said. The woman, who has concealed weapons permit, pulled out a .380-caliber handgun and fired one round at the pit bull.

Torey said the shot hit the pit bull in its right shoulder and it yelped as it walked back home. Officers checked the shitzu and it didn’t appear to have any injuries but was shaking uncontrollably.

Torey said the pit bull was taken to the Michigan Humane Society office in Detroit where it was treated for the bullet wound.

Torey said there have been numerous complaints with police about the pit bull being loose in the neighborhood. On June 13, 2009, the same victim filed a dog bite complaint.

In another instance, the pit bull attacked an 8-year-old child causing a puncture wounds and several scratches. On Oct. 31, 2009, another complaint was filed against the dog owner.

A violation was issued to the 36-year-old owner for dog at large.

Good for her; it sounds like the dog’s owner was being very irresponsible.
